“A bit off the boil ?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013 via mobile

The lounge bar service was excellent for pre dinner drink.
We were placed promptly at our table.
The plaster on the wall beside the table was chipped in several places - looks shabby.
The menu made no statement about mains being supplied with veges or potato stack.
The list of side orders included seasonal vegetables fries garlic potatoes
The vegetables of the day were stir fried regardless of mains - unusual combination but cooked to perfection
Side order of fries did not appear - but snapper came on stack of unannounced mashed potato. Also delicious.
The Bombe Alaska - core was still frozen as meringue was blowtorched not baked.
The Pavlova was superbe. Fillet steak fantastic.
Wine menu : only one Sauvingnon and one Chardonnay were available by the glass Both same winery.
In short The Orangery needs to regain its former glory - the walls, the menu should communicate, the sides should compliment the main, the dessert should taste as good as it looks.

My partner and I enjoyed the meal immensely, the staff were very obliging and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We were able to talk without feeling overwhelmed by the music. overall a great night out.

“Simply perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

Went to this restaurant tonight for an impromptu meal. We both the steak which was on special and it was simply divine! Cooked perfectly and flavorsome.. Not much more can really be said about the food to be honest.. One small criticism from my partner would be that the carrots could of done with a bit longer but that's just nitpicking. Friendly staff and an overall good experience

“Superb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2013

Flambé cooking is their speciality with table side cooking
I had the Chateaubriand followed by Crepes Suzette
The meal is cooked entirely at the table and then dramatically flamed
Others in the group had different options and everybody was highly complimentary
Wine prices were very reasonable and a young staff were delightful
