We only stayed for one night whilst on a girly road trip through the North Island. We arrived well before check in and the staff were helpful in getting the paperwork sorted although our room wasn't ready. They also assisted us in booking trips etc.
The hostel is centrally located and would be an absolute prime spot in summer with an endless supply of restaurants/bars/nightclubs within walking distance. There are loads of activities to do in Taupo and definitely worth a longer stay.
We got upgraded to a balcony room which was nice. It also provided us with a hair dryer and straighteners in our room which was nice.....although they didn't work!!! We didn't use any of the communal facilities so can't comment on that but everything appeared relatively clean and tidy.
Our room was ok in terms of cleanliness....other than the dirty socks by the side of my bed!!! The pillows were also quite uncomfortable.
This hostel can't be faulted for location and price and well worth a stay if wanting to visit Taupo on a budget.
