We hard a very nice stay in Taupo, in Gail and Robert's place. They do their best in order us to feel like at home, in a very confortable room at a very good price.
Do not hesitate to ask Gail to have dinner here, we had the best beef steak that we have ever eaten! A good place to stay without any doubt.

Room Tip: Kauri point is close to Taupo in a very quiet place with an outdoor Spa.

My wife and I planned an 8 day trip to New Zealand for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We prefer to stay in B&B's over Hotel's for many many reasons. The primary reason is the personal touch only a B&B can give to your stay.

From the moment we drove up, Kauri Point felt like "Home" even though our real "Home" was on the other side of the planet. The scenic driveway, the gorgeous front landscape and the warm welcome from Gail and Robert were the perfect introduction to our first nights stay in New Zealand.

Our was room spacious and cozy, offering every possible toiletry one could ask for. There was even a small healthy snack waiting for us on the desk. One could argue that Gail and Robert thought of everything. In contrast, we stayed in a more expensive B&B during our stay in Rotorua that offered only the basics that you would find in a standard hotel room.

The view from our room (right off the back deck) was stunning day or night. See photos I posted with this review. I made a point to wake up at a certain time each morning just to see the sunrise. Speaking of mornings....the breakfast at Kauri Point is to die for. Again, when compared to our higher priced B&B later in the trip and our many years of other B&B's...Kauri's breakfast is the best by a large margin. Pair their breakfast with a hand made fresh coffee and you'll be even more impressed.

If the cozy bed, incredible view, award winning breakfast and delicious coffee doesn't win you over...the sheer friendliness, openness and helpfulness of Gail and Robert certainly will. Each morning we reviewed our plans for the day. They offered advice and invaluable feedback that ultimately changed our activities for the better. I don't think we would have had as good of a time as we did if it's wasn't for them.

If I could sum up our stay at Kauri Point in one statement, it would read "We felt like we were staying with friends, who treated us like friends".

I trust anyone will feel the same once they stay at Kauri Point.

Room Tip: If I were to book again, I would want to stay in the same room which is in the far rear of the home...

Stayed at Kauri Point, fantastic view, accommodation excellent, very warm and friendly couple, Gail and Robert were the perfect hosts, felt like home from home, only wished we could have stayed longer two nights was just not enough. Breakfast was just superb, so much really didn't need anything else all day. The view from the deck was out of this world, have taken home memories of Kauri Point that we will never forget, really hope to return, this place and the hosts come highly recommended,THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Room Tip: all the rooms had a fantastic view, beautiful double doors opening to decking.2

Taupo is one of our favorite spots in New Zealand and Kauri Point is the best place to stay in the area. This was our 2nd time visiting Kauri Point and it did not disappoint. Our hosts were so gracious, it was like seeing old friends.
We stayed in the Ngatoroirangi, for two nights. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable and very quiet. This room is the furthest away from the kitchen and main living area. The bathroom has a lovely glass shower and plenty of amenities; blow dryer, soaps and shampoo, etc. We enjoyed the lounge that had plenty of books and a tv and a lovely couch for relaxing. We were free to help ourselves to the guest kitchenette which was stocked with beverages and tea. In the evening we relaxed on the lovely spacious deck and enjoyed a glass of wine with our hosts. Breakfast is a fantastic and includes your choice of fresh fruit, yogurt, pancakes or eggs to order. End your day with a dip in the hot tub. Hot tub towels and jandals are available for guest use. No detail is over looked. The grounds are fantastic and the property is close enough to town, but secluded enough to avoid the traffic of the city.

Gail and Robert are excellent hosts, but are also warm and friendly. We enjoyed their company and suggestions of things to do in the area. However, they also gave us our space and privacy. They have turned their warm home into a welcoming place for guests to visit. They have wonderful dogs that are so friendly, but they are mindful of the pets in guest space. We can't say enough about this amazing B&B. If we were to travel to New Zealand for a third time, we would absolutely stay at Kauri Point. Our stay here exceeded our expectations and was better than our first visit.

Room Tip: Ngatoroirangi is bright and sunny, with plenty of windows and a door accessing the deck. Quiet room.

My wife and I have recently stayed at Kauri Point for two nights. The owners Gail and Robert were fantastic hosts! Very warm, friendly and welcoming into their home. They made you feel that it is your home as well. During our stay my wife developed an old back problem and Gail was quick to assist with arranging an appointment with a local physiotherapy practice at very short notice. Fantastic! They also provided some great advice with local sights to visit and restaurants to eat at night.
The lodge itself had fantastic rooms overlooking a nearby mountain. Breakfast was great and the room had all mod cons and more. Great bathroom with power shower.
Many thanks from us both for a wonderful two days and would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the Taupo area.

Room Tip: Room with view of the mountain.

My wife and I stayed at Kauri Point in April 2014 along with some overseas friends who were making their first visit to New Zealand.

It was a good decision. We were warmly welcomed, shown to our top-class rooms, then offered the welcome drinks and canapés as promised by their website. The offerings were different on each of the days we stayed there; all of them good.

We knew we'd be on the road the entire day so we decided to ask Rob and Gail to cook us dinner. It was another good decision. A great meal at a reasonable price.

Everything was clean, the rooms very nicely furnished without being overdone, and the bathroom passed my wife's test: It was well-lighted, well-ventilated, and not a speck of dirt to be seen.

Breakfasts were cooked to order, tasted great, and were in keeping with the high level of quality seen elsewhere at the property.

Our overseas friends enjoyed the place as much as we did. If you're planning to be in Taupo, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: My wife and I saw two of the three rooms at the property. Both looked great; can't recommend one...
