This home stay is a little out of Taupo but so worth it. A modern house with every amenity. Hosts are really friendly and helpful. Our room was enormous and it is worth having a ratch in the drawers in your room because we kept finding things such as docking stations and hair dryers. The bathroom was well stocked with proper named branded toiletries and even had heated mirrors so they didn't fog up. Breakfast was continental and delicious. Rooms have patio doors which open up onto a deck which is pleasant. They have two dogs so it was nice to play with them too.

Great place to stay. Very welcomming family and great room with very comfortable king bed. Would definatley stay here again when in Taupo - at this rate you can't beat it. Hosts provided great recommendations about local restaurants and places to see on the way to Auckland.

Four of us went to Taupo on a winter jaunt for no particular reason in late June and got lucky when we chose Kauri Point for our accommodation. We spent a relaxed and enjoyable hour or so sitting around chatting with Gail and Robert when we arrived and had lots of laughs with them over a leisurely breakfast next morning. The house was just great, SUPER-clean, well decorated and, in Taupo’s chilly air, supremely cosy and comfortable, even before they cut the ribbon on their flash new British-style radiator heating system. Beds and bedding are absolutely pristine and luxurious. They've got a bit of a thing going on with decks - we've never seen such a massive area of decking, and how pleasant that must be in summer months. My favourite room would be the one at the back of the house with its own generous deck (golly, another deck, surprise, surprise!) followed very closely by the large room at the end of a long passage. The rooms probably had names but I can't recall them. Gail booked us a table at The Bistro in town - a good choice - creative food, nice staff (no need to dress for dinner there). We'll definitely be back one day for a pleasant stay when driving south.

Thank you for taking time to write your review. As always hugely appreciated.

You will be pleased to know that we have finally 'cut the ribbon' on our central heating system, and just in time for a really cold blast from the south. The whole house is now beautifully warm - fired by our 'carbon neutral' wood fired furnace. It is such a pleasure to have every room in the house warm. Every room can be controlled to our guests requirements with individual thermostats.

DECKS???? Yes we probably do have a bit of a thing about them but they are our 'outside living room' in the warmer months and get very well used. Very soon (surprise surprise) we will have even more deck space as we move towards completion of our new sitting room and covered outside deck area with outside fire. We can't wait to join our guests out there well into the chilly evenings sitting by the fire with as glass of wine or hot chocolate.

Thanks to all our guests for writing these reviews. Its great to know what you think of us, so please keep them coming.

A great find on the outskirts of Taupo set in lovely semi rural space.
Large bedroom with includes a "lounge" area.Quality linen
Breakfast- weren't asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast ,however the homemade meusli was yummy as was the banana muffin.

Friendly hosts- 2 dogs -so not a place if you are allergic to dogs as these ones are house dogs.
Well worth the booking.

Room Tip: The large room with lounge space was an excellent room-quiet kingsize comfy bed

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your short stay with us.
I think it is worth mentioning that our current rates are reduced by 50%. These rates take into account the fact that continental breakfast is offered instead of the full cooked option and that we are currently doing some renovation work to the property. All work on site ends at 5pm each day so there is no noise disturbance overnight for our guests.

We do have family pets as is well advertised. Our bedrooms however are spotlessly clean and very definitely are cat free zones. Those with cat allergies need not be concerned. Our current renovations will give us more opportunity to remove the dogs from guest areas.

We hard a very nice stay in Taupo, in Gail and Robert's place. They do their best in order us to feel like at home, in a very confortable room at a very good price.
Do not hesitate to ask Gail to have dinner here, we had the best beef steak that we have ever eaten! A good place to stay without any doubt.

Room Tip: Kauri point is close to Taupo in a very quiet place with an outdoor Spa.
