This hotel is situated on the lake which is lovely, however it is a 2km walk into town. The receptionist who booked us in was very pleasant, as you would expect, but the male receptionist who booked us out 2 days later was pretty gruff as in not bothered. Our room was pleasant enough, ground floor fronting lake, although bathroom seemed a little tired. Had a feeling of a corporate chain! Would we stay there again, probably not, we would look for something a little more personal.

Dear Stevesmith, I am sorry we disappointed you, this is far from the normal comments and what our good reputation is built on. It is particularly upsetting to read of any reception staff being unfriendly as friendly staff is what we are very proud of. Please know this will be taken up with Office Manager seriously for future improvement. I would like to think we could restore your confidence in our services if you did stay again one day. Kind regards Diane

We often stop in Taupo on our way up or down from Auckland and have stayed here several times over the years.
If we stay here we normaly get a lake view room. On this occasion we got a pool view room.
The room was just fantastic, very big and with a super King Bed that was very comfortable. After a long day of international travel this was just perfect.
I whish we had time to try out more of the resorts facilities but we had time constraints.

Only negative for our short stay was that we booked by mobile pretty late on the way into Taupo and expected to be able to negotiate the prices but this was blankly rejected by the receptioinest.
It was a case of either pay the room price or go elsewhere.
I am not really surprised they were nearly empty with that attitude.

My message to managment would be
"Come on wake up guys, you have a great hotel that should be full, stop being so snobish,,,,,If your hotel is empty you need to allow your staff to negotiation pricing late at night".

Dear Wheller 151 thank you for your feedback. Appreciate your suggestions and this will be taken into consideration with owner of property - I can not comment on rates referred to other that staff have ownership with minimum rates in place. Please feel welcome to ask for duty manager and mention return guest for future options. Thank you for continuing to stay with us . Best wishes Diane

Great location ... a few yards from the water's edge. Excellent restaurant - had dinner and beakfast. Friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel. A handsome but cheeky mallard ate my biscuits, but I didn't mind.

My family travelled to Taupo recently and enjoyed one night at Manuels which was just brilliant from the moment we stepped inside the doors, really friendly and helpful staff, a really inviting feel inside and we were shown to our room as if we were VIPs!! Our first priority was to dive in to the pool, lovely and warm and clean and the whole experience was just perfect, great food, views, location, people. Really highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in an upstairs room which was great with our own private balcony and we loved it, able to...

What a beautiful hotel! Immaculate rooms, stunning views, peace & quiet and all the comforts you would expect from such a quality establishment. I can't find enough superlatives to describe our experience at Millennium Lake Taupo. The room was close to perfect, the bed and pillows were divine, and table & chairs both inside and on the balcony allow you to enjoy the view and the gorgeous sunset in all weather. The fragrance of the bath products was delightful! The food, drinks and service at the bar and restaurant exemplary. The staff are friendly, helpful, unobtrusive and polite. The swimming pool is heated to a very pleasant temperature, and towels are available from reception. And the Grotto Spa - what a unique experience! You feel like you are miles away from civilisation, relaxing in the private cave with its calming water and subdued lighting. Make sure you book your 30 minute session (no cost) at reception. The lake is home to ducks, black swans and other native birds. During our stay, a mother duck and her 11 tiny ducklings kept us entertained with their daily activities. The paved pathway around the lake's edge is great for an early morning or late afternoon stroll. The Taupo area provides plenty of places to eat, activities and sightseeing. Take a cruise on the lake, visit Huka Falls and take a walk around the Craters of the Moon for an extraordinary experience in this unearthly landscape. Our three day stay was one of my favourite experiences in all my years of travel, and I would recommend this hotel to all. I really hope to return one day for another visit.

This motel is wonderfully situated on the shore of Lake Taupo with the sound of the waves lapping outside your room. It is very easy to find and plenty of parking. the motel is classically decorated with very inviting bar and lounge. There is an outstanding haute cuisine restaurant on premises "Edgewater" which offered a good variety of food and excellent standard. It offers a variety of rooms to suit your own budget.

A wonderful place to stay for a weekend break or holiday.

Room Tip: Ground floor room with own spa would be the ultimate at this motel but all have lovely lakeside view...
