“Great family accommodation”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

We really enjoyed staying here. It was fantastic for the children. They have a few hot pools heated to 35 so we went for a swim in the evening as a family. Nobody else there so we had the whole pool to ourselves. Accommodation was clean and we were pleased we chose Wairakei last minute.

We stayed for the Queens B day long weekend just gone, from Sat 31st May to June 2nd. We have stayed here about 6 - 7 times over the years and they have been all awesome. This time it started off great as usual, friendly staff, we found our room 801 upstairs.
We unpacked our stuff, went for a swim and then when the toilet was used it wouldnt stop running or making a running water sound no matter how many times we pushed the button down to stop it. My wife rang up the reception and told them what the story was with the toilet, we were going out somewhere for the night so we left before someone came to look at it. We came back and it was sweet as, then when someone used the toilet it started again. I took the top of the unit off and put a pair of chopsticks under the float thing to stop the noise. This seemed to work and we left it like this for the rest of our stay. Anywhere this was the only annoying thing from our stay, everything else was great as usual. The Kids went for swims, a Spa, we had breakfast in the morning.
I did take a picture on my phone of the toilet tank and showed the women on reception but I dont think she was very fussed about it. We could of changed rooms I reckon but chose to stay in Rm 801, next time ill try and avoid Rm 801.
Otherwise we love staying at the Wairakei Resort.

Room Tip: Try to avoid Room 801, unless the toilet is fixed, otherwise sweet as.

We enjoyed our stay at Wairakei resort. The rooms were comfortable and clean and although the decor is a bit dated we really liked our room, especially the balcony. The hot pools and swimming pools were lovely and we enjoyed our round of golf at the 9-hole course across the road. I'd recommend staying here.

We had a large group booking. The reservations staff were awesome sorting out the bookings. The front desk staff were really friendly. The Sunday roast was excellent. And the other staff (restaurant, bar, cleaning etc) were all really friendly too. We would highly recommend staying at the Resort.

I am a travel agent and sell this property a lot. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay over the long weekend for a night. I loved the property. We stayed in a spa suite which was lovely. The rooms will probably need a refurb in the next 5 years or so (still lovely rooms!) but the whole resort in general was fantastic. I loved how private the rooms felt due to the large scale of the property. I tried out the fitness centre which was well equipped :). I also tried Pavilions for dinner and they had a casual dining menu and a fine dining menu. We opted for the casual dining and it was delicious. We had Shana as a waitress and she was lovely and super switched on. Please pass on my feedback about her. We also tried the breakfast buffet which was a reasonable price. $22.00 for a full cooked buffet breakfast. Did not get to try the pool out but have had great feedback about it.... Thank you so much for an excellent stay and I will keep recommending my clients to stay with you! Loved it :)

We always love staying here! Love the spas and thermal pools, staff are helpful and you can't beat the buffet roast on Sundays! The rooms are clean and there is heaps of parking. Good place to stay for day trips to Rotorua or to visit Craters of the Moon, Huka Falls etc.
