My partner took me to Taupo for a surprise weekend after an awful couple of weeks. We chose this restaurant based on the menu in the Entertainment Book. When we got there, the place had full house lights - it was like walking into a fast food premises at 3am.
We couldn't find a single item on the menu that was in the Entertainment Book. We ordered with a different waiter, because the first waitress was "too scared to come and ask for ID" - we're both in our 30's.
The meals were terrible, my lamb was well done, and came in a soup of runny mashed potato, the chorizo and bacon were so sparse (and diced into 1mm x 1mm pieces) that they were invisible to the naked eye. My partner's ravioli was awful, it was chewy and the sauce was burnt. The wine was over priced and terrible.
We were the last ones left, and the kitched cranked up their music as if to imply that it was time to leave. The whole experience almost ruined what was meant to be a really nice night out.
