When we arrived at the property ( admittedly about an hour before 2.00pm check-in ) we were informed that our room was not ready as they had had a very busy previous night and had not finished room cleaning. We returned well after 2.00pm and after some toing and froing were told that our room was ready. The room itself was OK although a bit on the small side and with a layout which didn't seem to maximise space. It seemed obvious that the cleaning of the room had been rushed as there was no soap in the bathroom ( this didn't particularly trouble us as we tend to travel with some spare soap but it really shouldn't happen). Also the light over the vanity basin did not work which seemed to indicate that not much attention was paid to detail as it would have been impossible to clean the bathroom without noticing it. The location of the motel is fine probably about a 12 minute walk to the centre of the town. While it is on a fairly busy road, we did not notice any traffic noise and enjoyed a relaxing night's sleep. We dined at the in house restaurant on one night and it was good although a bit on the expensive side. While this accommodation was OK, we would probably look elsewhere if we were visiting Taupo again

Had a very good welcome and a nice stay here for one evening as I was passing through Taupo. The room was very clean and basic and I are at the restaurant which was great food and very fresh. Great location on the lake front and opposite beach, perfect for a morning or sunset run

Wonderfully situated on the lake front, with the views being particularly striking from the restaurant. Helpful and charming staff and a decent room. We had dinner here in the evening and the staff went out of their way to cater for us two vegetarians.

Lake Taupo should be on anyone's cross NZ trip. The Quality Inn was a welcome rest after a long day of driving from Auckland, stopping at Hobbiton in Mata Mata and then winding up on the shores of Lake Taupo for the night. We arrived to a find a booking issue at the front desk but immediately and with many apologies, it was remedied without the need to make anymore of it. I can't tell you how many hotels have made their internal issue my problem... the Quality Inn has obviously put good decision makers in place and given them the power to act. (Rare these days) The rooms are all different. Comfortable and within a good, but acceptable distance walk to town. There is a restaurant on site that was jammed, so I am assuming it was very good. The breakfast the next morning of homemade Muesli and locally made sausages was perfect. I will stay here again on my next trip through.

Room Tip: None of the rooms have views of the lake that I could see so be ready for a good meal, good night sleep and get out and enjoy the area. That is what it is all about.
