“Divine food and great service”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

On Saturday night we had the great fortune of dining at Gold Mela. I would recommend the Tuna Nicoise - wow amazing flavours, and the chocolate fondant was perfect - gooey in the middle! Thanks Freddy and team for the fantastic service and food

“Renaissance”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

We were fans of this restaurant under its previous ownership. Then, it was a rustic French Provincial bistro which produced hearty, well-cooked meals. The new Gold Mela is a different creature altogether. For a start, it has moved to new suburban premises, taking over the former Grange Road cafe. Second, the menu is more sophisticated and accordingly, more expensive. We were very pleased, though, with the quality of the meals and the accompanying wine. The pate was delicate and moreish and the lamb racks were tasty and appetising. The suburban location means that parking is right at the door. My only criticism is that the room was a little cold and draughty for this time of year. I will definitely be back.

“Should have dined here sooner”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Four of us dined here last night, everything from the service to the food was great. The men had steak & they both said it was excellent, cooked exactly to their requests. Us ladies enjoyed the pasta again this was very good. All the meals were a decent size & reasonable priced. We also liked we could bring along our own wine.

“Lovely evening”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

We made a late booking for four and were juggled in to fit - we are glad they did! Lovely atmosphere, busy but well looked after with interesting and well presented food. BYO which suited the wine buff in the group who loves to take his wine - very few restaurants in Tauranga encourage this. All four of us agreed this is the type of dining we love.
