“Excellent Food, Superb Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2012

We were here on a GrabOne Voucher, so I can only comment on that set menu food.

The restaurant is big but warm and the service is excellent. By Tauranga standards, this is a top $ restaurant but the food is worth it and the view over the water to die for.

The 5 course meal was perfectly timed and we came away sated but not over-full. Excellent wine by the glass and the lamb rump was melt in the mouth.

A bonus on a Friday night is the live lounge music, that those in the know had the lounge full at 7:30pm listening to some first class music.

We will return!

“Mother's Day Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

Great service, great food. We weren't actually in the dining hall with everyone else, they must hav over booked, but it was nice because it was quieter where we were seated and it still wasn't far to go for the food. Waitresses were attentive, and happy to get us a doggy bag for our cupcakes. We will most likely be booking for Christmas lunch after this experience.

We chose the venue because we had experienced it before and knew it would be a treat. Right on the waterfront. Lovely views and lovely food, awesome service.

“restaurant disappointment”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2012

We went to the Halo Restaurant within the Sebel hotel for a Birthday Luncheon. The way it was advertised on their website made it sound like there was a great variety of food and with a reasonable price ($22.50 per adult). However as a family we were hugely disappointed by the selection, presentation and taste of the food. We were surprised for what was advertised as a "Sunday Grill" there was a sausage casserole, tough overcooked steak and some small fish fillets. salads were limited and there were NO dressings. Only one thing was offered for dessert so the children had nothing as it was a creamy sponge cake that didn't look very appetizing. No coffee or tea was available or even offered to us. The service was also disappointing and our neighbouring table had their whole table cleared of EVERYTHING when they went for their dessert, leaving them no cutlery, napkins, condiments etc. There are some wonderful restaurants within walking distance of this hotel and I would recommend people go elsewhere to eat.
