We had a first class lunch at The Larder for the 'Wellington on a Plate' food festival, but I decided not to put up a review based on it being a special deal, rather determined to return. We went back for brunch and were not disappointed. The food is more upmarket than a standard brunch, and the setting quieter than say Maranui (and without the queue). Both of us loved our food (I had Snapper) and the service was casual, professional and friendly. Through my work I have had dined the world over, but I am still constantly impressed with how well my little city does. We anticipate returning here many times.

This place came highly recommended by friends and it did not disappoint! We attended as a family (6) - everyone ordered something different and it was all delicious! The food was all organic and you could not fault the quality and presentation. It was booked out and very busy, but we still received excellent service and everything was served promptly. We had 2 young children in our party - they received their meal ahead and staff were extremely cordial and tolerant towards all the children. Having the 'Cauliflower Soup' served complimentary in little cups was a nice touch! Leave room for desserts which are just as delicious!

Looking forward to having another meal there when we next visit Wellington.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL as they are very popular, especially on week-ends/

These guys did us proud. Restuarant was full - we waited - and they looked after us. As soon as a table was vacated they prepped it - and then seemed to try and make up for the small delay WHICH WAS OUR FAULT!

Caring, good communicators, great food - believable prices. This won't disappoint.

Juicy steak, fat chips, garlic aioli. Enough said. Good for lunch, or in the evening. It's very popular, so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

“Nice enough food but food portions are too small for the price. In the neighborhood and decided to try this cafe, it always looks busy. I had the pea and prawn soup. Very flat bowl literally 2 ladles of soup and one half slice of bread for $17, fellow diner had the squid with salad for $18, consisted of a few pieces of squid with a handful of salad. Meatballs with pasta was ok for $20, I guess, about the right food portion to price charged. Needless to say we had to get Subway afterwards to fill ourselves up. Maybe if they split their menu up into subsections and put the entree sized portions under a heading ‘entrees’ and the main courses under ‘main courses’ people might not be so startled when they get their food.”
