My wife & I were staying at the north west facing studio room for 2 weeks. The location is very good and one of our friend said it's well chosen. "If the location had been closer to Cuba St., it'd have been so noisy until late night" However on Friday and Saturday night, some noises came through from the ventilation fan. That's okay. Conveniences are prior to it for us.
I paid $60 for a week Wifi access in the hotel room. It was miserable, so slow like 50K at many times and cut out at some times a day. Useless. I gave up to buy it for the next week and eventually found the good place Te Papa 5 minute walk from the hotel. It has a free Wifi and the speed was always more than 1M. No problem.
The reception staff is friendly and complimentary newspapers are welcome.

The location is great. The hotel room was a 1 bedroom standard, was sufficient for a weekend away for 1 person or a couple that eat out. Quite basic but mostly clean and tidy. The staff were friendly although most were unaware of the specifics of tours and general information around the area which was surprising and not that helpful when travelling.
Overall ok if you intend on sight seeing the whole time and just using the rooms for resting purposes.

I stayed six nights. After a frigid first night (arriving at 2 a.m. due to Air Canada's delayed flights) - the only source of heat in the apartment was turned off and would automatically turn itself off after two hours of operation. The brisk souhterly wind was whistling against the windows of the corner apartment and I woke up at 7 a.m. as my feet were too cold. I called the reception and in no time was given a very efficient little radiator for the bedroom, plus an extra blanket. From then on everything went perfectly. Groceries in Wellington are double the price they are in Canada, and there is no relatively cheap restaurant in the city, so I could still manage to feed myself for a reasonable cost. For example, breakfast in a hotel is a minimum of 20 to 25 NZ dollars. A dinner for two at a restaurant is about 120 NZ dollars.
The apartment was clean, well maintained. The highlight of the place is the friendliness of the staff - they seem prepared to do anything they can to help you and give you the best directions around the city. I would certainly go back there if I had business to attend in Wellington again. It took me no more than 5 minutes to walk to the city hall buildings and embassies are not far either.
The only drawback was noise from the street late at night on the weekend.

Room Tip: The harbour view room with a little balcony had a great view of the bay from an upper floor.

The only good thing about this hotel/apartment is the location. Otherwise here are reasons not to book this place:

> Carpet is stained and dirty.
> Sofa is stained and dirty.
> Werid smell around the apartment.
> TV reception is crap.
> Noises coming out of ventilation fan randomly during night - this can be noisy.

Just for cleanliness, I would not come back to this apartment. It is the major criteria to me for booking hotels. This hotel need work and pictures from website are misleading.

The location is fantastic. You can walk to everything with ease. My wife and I stayed for one night in late December, 2011 in a one bedroom apartment ($119 NZD Queen 2x adults). The hotel staff on arrival was great giving us extra free wifi internet instead of the free breakfast as we were departing early.

The rooms are of adequate size with nice furnishings. You get a lot of noise from the city if you leave windows open. The TV is stuck high up on the wall and is hard to watch. The lounge appeared to be old and worn and a little scruffy compared to the rest of the furniture and fittings. The bed was nice and comfortable with clean tidy well maintained sheets, pillows and linen. The bathroom looked like it needed some love and care. The fan seemed to stay on for 10 minutes longer than it needed to. The sink was small and had cracks along with various tiles although the shower was good with nice pressure and hot water temperature.

Overall for the location and what you pay it is very reasonable and if in Wellington again we would stay here......

I was in Wellington for a girls' weekend and choose this hotel for the location (which is excellent). I ended up in a studio for the first night and a 1-bedroom for the second (both on the 8th floor) - unless you want the extra space, I wouldn't bother with the latter. The studio was ok in terms of size, had a well-lit bathroom and a little balcony (with a view of a carparking building!). The 1-bed was a good size but the puny wall heater (which was noisy) struggled to heat the space and I wasn't keen to use the supplied blanket which looked a bit manky. A couple of annoying things were that the TV was bolted high up on the wall in the lounge, and the fan in the bathroom was noisy, stayed on for ages, let in more cold air than an open window and seemed to do very little! Bizarrely the sinks in both rooms were covered in small, black splits which looked a bit gross and the general quality of cleaning was decidedly average. Both rooms also could've done with a touch of paint, but at least the decor was modern. We had limited contact with the staff - they were friendly but didn't seem to be able to show much initiative when we asked about changing our room bookings to avoid checking out and then back in. This property is fine if you're looking for the basics but to be honest, I wouldn't want to stay there any longer than a weekend.
