The staff were very helpful and quick at check in. The art on display around the hotel is fantastic.

I was in the apartment block, no view but that was OK. The room was very nice, large with a kitchenette. The bathroom had a spa bath as well as separate shower. The hotel restaurant was superb and the staff there fantastic too. Great location in Wellington, close to the waterfront and just across from Te Papa.

Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The hotel lobby is nice with a lot of museum quality pieces on display. The room was spacious and clean. Our balcony overlooked the marina and Te Papa Museum across the street. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of restaurants, supermarket, and the waterfront. You couldn't ask for a more friendly staff! I would definitely stay again!

Our executive studio harbour view room in the funky Museum Art Hotel was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a king bed, desk and sofa and a lovely view of the harbour. The tiled bathroom was equipped with a deep soaker tub as well as a walk-in shower with rain shower head. Our room was located in the apartment building and included a compact kitchen with oven, cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer and espresso machine. We didn’t use most of the appliances but did enjoy the in-room espresso. Some other reviewers have commented that rooms in the hotel building are quite run-down but our room in the apartment building was in excellent repair. The hotel is well-located, directly across the street from the excellent Te Papa Museum of New Zealand and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and the waterfront walkway. Our only disappointment with the hotel was that free Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby.

My husband and I had a kids free weekend here and LOVED it.
The room was amazing,it was clean and quiet, the bath was HEAVEN it was huge

Everything is only a short walk away, restaurants, supermarket, bars, Te Papa and much more.
We can't wait to stay there again.

The service was great, our car was parked for us and check in was nice and quick No messing about. A bottle of bubbles was given to us on arrival which was wonderful, and they offered us a nice late check out of 12pm which was great. Most hotels make you check out by 10am.

Terrific review. Thankyou. I hope your children got to try out our pool as well, and that after all that wonderful eating and drinking that wellington offers you managed to include a workout in our Gym.

This is indeed a very exotic hotel and the location is great. You're right at the harbour and can basically walk around whole Wellington. However, the room we stayed in was actually a bit run down. Especially the bathroom needs some renovations. So we were a tiny bit dissapointed with the quality of the rooms given the money that we spent. Anyway, overall we had a nice stay and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

We are about halfway through a major renovation of our HOTEL rooms, including full bathroom upgrades. We are trying to make sure guests are checked into these rooms where space allows.
I would be proud to host you 'on the house' if you are planning a return visit.
We should also have some new additions to our already considerable ART COLLECTION.

A three day work trip was spent at this funky and creative hotel. The artwork is worth a visit alone.
The location is very hard to beat as it is handy to main attractions and the city centre is just a short walk along the wonderful waterfront boulevard.
The hotel is currently undergoing some much needed renovations which should sort out some of the more tired looking areas and rooms. Unfortunately I had been booked into a low-end room, so I did not see the best the hotel had to offer. The room was clean and very quiet. The staff I encountered were friendly but obviously new to the job and not quite as upbeat and welcoming as one would expect in a hotel aiming for a funky/top end hotel experience.
The renovations and a bit more staff training will make this a great hotel - I look forward to returning to explore it further.

Intriguing to read other reviews that rate Museum lower than my own experience. And I have stayed at The Museum Hotel multiple times. My latest stay simply confirmed what I already knew - this hotel really rates. The staff at the hotel is simply one of the best front desks in all of NZ - efficient, helpful and most knowledgeable.

Everything I requested was taken care of smoothly, professionally and in a timely manner. This included changing out pillows from a choice of four types to scanning a document and sending it back to me for resending as an attachment.

The Internet access in the rooms is most speedy and works w/o fault + 2 days (48 hours) for $18 has got to be one of the best hotel rates for Internet anywhere -- although some places offer FREE wifi - it often has unreasonable data caps.

The art work in the lobby throughout the hotel is amazing and it truly feels like an extention of the national "museum" across the street. The hotel is furnished and currently being refurbished in one of the most unusual selection of decor -- which makes Museum unigue, distinct and simply a delight -- not your normal upper end hotel by a country or city mile - and it does not try to be. Certainly suits me who spends 100 days in/out of hotels in and out of NZ.

BTW -- my bed was most comfortable, lighting was perfectly designed and easy to use as was every thoughtfully placed electric device including a Nespresso machine in the room...not that I'd really use it.

While Museum is not downtown Welly -- it is a short one-block walk from the heart of dining and bar area Courtney Place and 1 block from the waterfront -- giving the hotel great proximity to two of the highlight "hoods" while being just away from the street noise.

I highly recommend Museum to anyone visiting Wellington and certainly everyone who comes to Welly for a short visit while on vacation in New Zealand.

Room Tip: Upper level harbor front rooms are most "romantic" if you are having a city weekend getawa...
