“A gem of a museum.”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

This is a fantastic museum. If I were a local, I'd be back regularly. Being from outside New Zealand. I rated this as it gave us a place to get to grips with the physical geography, geology, history and culture of your wonderful country. What makes it better is that entry is free, that made us happy to make a donation. Our party had a welcoming talk, this helped us to make the most of our time. it is hard to pick any one thing out, but I particularly liked the sections on earth History and the volcanic activity, related to New Zealand. One of the best museums we have seen anywhere. I would recommend it to any visitor.

“Em's on Tour”

From the architecture of the building to the exhibits within this museum's walls is a most remarkable collection of Maori heritage. A special place of art, history and artefacts. No less than 2 to 3 hours is the time required to experience the whole of what is represented here. The cafe and gift shop is also worth a mention for service and items for sale.

“Great museum”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

An amazing free museum located just across the road from the hotel. The exhibits are very well designed especially the 4th floor which features more on the history of New Zealand and the Maori people. Lots of interactive exhbitis. A must see in Wellington.

“Must see in Wellington.”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Simply put, amazing..
Had such a wonderful time, there is so much to see and has many interactive areas for children. There are a few parts you have to pay for but most is free. Earthquake house is great for children, worth a visit while down the waterfront area.
