Reviewed 10 March 2013

This was our family's third time staying at the Capital View Motor Inn. The first was in 2005 and again in 2010. Mark is just a great host and goes out of his way to be helpful. Our family of four stayed for two nights, when we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the penthouse on the 6th floor, so that was great. Panoramic views over Wellington, spacious rooms, efficient room service and clean. Most rooms have spacious, fully equipped kitchens so self catering would be no problem here. This hotel is handy for Cuba Street, yet it is quiet and relaxing. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing north or east towards the city and the harbour.

Not overly attractive from the outside, BUT located near Cuba Street, free parking, free WiFi, clean and comfortable rooms at a reasonable price for a city hotel. The service was friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Really good location close to centre of the city. Mark, the boss very helpful and good sense of humour. Room well equipped, spacious, clean and quiet for a city location. Ferry terminal easy 20 minutes from the hotel. No hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We had one overlooking the city which was great.

We stayed 5 nights here and found the motor inn to be in a quiet and convenient location, within walking distance (10 mins) of a good range of restaurants. We walked to the city centre and other attractions from here so a motor vehicle is not essential if staying here, although car parking is available.
The unit although not new was clean and comfortable and the kitchenette very handy. Breakfast is not provided so we were able to prepare our own. The unit was bright and airy with a good view towards the harbour. There was no air-conditioning, but this is probably not essential in Wellington. There were dual aspect windows which opened allowing plenty of fresh air ventilation. The complementary internet was useful.
We were greeted cheerfully at checkin which was swift and trouble free.

This motel is on the edge of city centre, but close enough to walk to the centre. Wellington is quite hilly away from the waterfront and you will certainly keep fit. Don't use the car - parking is a problem in all cities! Mark was very friendly and helpful with advice for getting about. Part of the city has a one-way system and this comes close to the motel. Also, it is only 2 mins drive to the motorway. 5 mins walk to Cuba Street which has quite a variety of restaurants & shops. You will be spoilt for choice.
There are 20 studio units, all with views of different sides of the city. My studio had double & single beds, dining area and mini kitchenette. All were very clean and in good condition. There is a lift to all floors. Limited free wi-fi. And I liked the night-time security for entry.(no! I am not going to tell you what it was on a public site.) Private free parking on site. My only concern was that the driveway was very steep and not suitable for elderly or anyone with mobility problems. Not sure if there is anyway to improve access on such a hilly street. But certainy a comfortable & pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Higher foors are quieter and have better views. Ask for room away from lift.

I stayed on and off for 18 months on business. The proprieter was friendly and helpful.
Rooms were clean and had basic cooking facilities. Close to city centre with off street parking.
Cheap as chips with a good discount for long term. Flexible payment arrangements

Room Tip: west side rooms are quieter, higer levels have exceptional views.

Must admit the place doesn't look too appealing from the outside but the service was great and the room very well equipped and clean. The added bonus was the on site car park. It was only a five minute walk to town so no complaints on any score.
