It wasn't spectacular, but it was appropriate for the reasonable price we paid. Good location, clean and tidy enough, good price for the Internet (especially if you compare it with the prices in Auckland hotels). Close to TSB arena which was very handy.

Had a studio room which was quite large and had a kitchen and laundry. Large bathroom. Comfortable bed. Free wifi for an hour and then only $13.50 for 24 hours so reasonable. Close to everything. Very clean.
Bit noisey from road traffic etc , very noisey people in the room next door and as desk not manned constantly I could not complain.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper levels to reduce outside noise.

The Quest is centrally located between along walk to Te Papa and Cuba Street and a few block to the Cable Car Station which will take you up to the Botanical Gardens. Plus there is a free shuttle from the upper station to Zealandia. Our room was big and high ceilinged, with a queen bed, closet, desk and chairs , TV, fully equipped kitchen and a large bathroom with a clothes washer and dryer. In fact, the kitchen which takes the form of a large insert, contained a fridge, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, sink, plus all the utensils needed to cook a meal. I was very impressed with the renovations. The curtains were a bit soiled from the traffic and industry pollution, but the rest of the room was very clean as we had come to expect in NZ. Service was very good; the desk staff provided parking passes (parking is located 2 blocks away at the arena), helped sort out our rental return with Eurocar, stored our luggage until the afternoon, provided directions to sights, and suggestions for a local coffee shop while we initially waited for rental pickup. The cleaning staff, who arrive before desk staff in the morning, even sorted out return of our valuables from the safe in time for us to make our train. We did have a couple of problems however, that deserves mention. There are 2 Quests on Lambton Quay and they are about a kilometer apart. Our GPS sent us to the wrong hotel and to get to the Wellington Quest there was a confusing drive down a single lane one way street with an abrupt left turn at the hotel. The hotel is not obviously marked, and parking in front is limited. We were helped by a business professional driver we approached, who drew a map with instructions on how to get to the hotel, including parking locations. Once again, I was really impressed by how kiwis help travellers. In addition, the parking garage was full despite our having a hotel parking pass. The parking attendant however, allowed us to park in the lane between the parked cars provided we left the keys. I was a bit concerned but it all worked out in the end. These however are minor problems and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Quest for travellers visiting Wellington.

My mum stayed here with 2 of her grandchildren for 3 days. She said the location and cleanliness were the only good points. She didn't see the value for money and would search around for something better next time.

Her double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together with hardly any room on either side of the bed to get in. She had to climb from the bottom of the bed to get in. There were holes in some of the sheer curtains and it was noisy as the windows didn't seal well.

The front desk was not manned constantly. My brother calling them from overseas had to wait ages for anyone to answer the main phone. For safety reasons she didn't like the fact there was no peep hole in the door or safety latch if opening it.

Kitchen utensils were sparse (4 only of everything which meant they had to keep getting the dirty utensils out of the dishwasher waiting to be washed to re-use them again) and the main kitchen knife was blunt.

Shower was over a bath tub which you step into - could be difficult for someone with mobility issues.

Hi There,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments about your stay here at Quest Wellington.

Our Two bedroom Apartments have the ability to be split into 4 separate beds to ensure flexibility among different travelers. I apologise if this was evident when the beds were pushed together, and will investigate a new topper for the mattresses to ensure this does not happen again.

I am pleased to advise you that the curtains in all Two Bedroom Apartments have recently been replaced.

Reception is manned from Monday - Friday 7am - 8pm and Saturday and Sundays from 8am - 5pm. outside of these hours, we have a manager onsite 24 hours to assist in any requirements that the guests may have.

We also have spare kitchen utensils if more is required, please contact reception to arrange this on your next visit.

We appreciate your comments and hope to see you back at Quest Wellington on your next trip to the Capital.

Many Thanks,
Scott Bellingham

Went down for the weekend to see the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular playing at the TSB Arena which was about 200m from the hotel which was really handy. The hotel room was nice with a small kitchenette with hot plates, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher; large bathroom with washer and dryer; and a separate bedroom. Could hear traffic noise during the day, however at night we had no problem with noise. The location is within walking distance of CBD, lots of shopping and water front. Starbucks is virtually next door(just around the corner) if you need a coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful, and room was clean and serviced every day.
Overall a really enjoyable experience and would definitely go back when we're next in Wellington.

But fitout tired and smells a BIT like someone's house rather than a hotel.
But location, a block from the intercontinental, about as central as you could hope for. Quite nice old building with good light every room.
After hours check in very easy

Stayed here last Friday for Wellington rugby Sevens location is perfect if you want to be in the heart of city central, close to shops and restaurants, buses, stadium, waterfront, etc. Right from booking to checkout we were very impressed with service, Sarah in particular and Ida at the front desk are very friendly and helpful.
Room was exceptionally clean, bathroom and sheets fresh with no nasty surprises or smells.
Well maintained room, plenty of fresh towels and pillows. Although we were on the first floor once windows were shut you could barely hear the street noise, we enjoyed the short stay here.
Being central there is no on site parking but $29 to pay per day at secure parking facility only 5mins walk away. Pay $40 for 2 days.
We will definitely stay here again. Other guests we spoke to also enjoyed rooms in higher floors. Great customer service, attention to the small details, clean and cheap. We paid $169 per night when others were charging $250+ because of the event. Quest management should be very proud of their cleaning and front desk staff.
