“Stay elsewhere”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2007

My first impressions of this hotel were not good as the smell the hallway leading to my room was just about unbearable. The room itself was fine although it wasn't overly clean. It was the little things that annoyed me e.g. the phone didn't work, they forgot to replace the new towels they had changed, TV had terrible reception, no plug cover in shower you just looked down a hole. I found the staff to be less than helpful. Only stay here is there really isn't anywhere else!

Views were great from 13th floor.
Reception absolutely awful - arrived after driving down from Taihape, no humans at reception, talked to none-too-friendly voice on intercom, enduring the shocking weather, very windy and cold, at 6.30pm.
We were not made welcome at all, very impersonal.
Rooms very cramped, so-called breakfast included consisted of tiny box of cereals and small carton of milk in fridge for 3 people.
Wrote an evaluation form and left at desk next day.
We wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

We stayed here for 2 nights and unlike the other Quest appartments we have stayed in (eg Quest Christchurch), which in the main were great value for money, Quest on the Terrace Wellington was by far the worst.

The guy at the front desk was totally unhelpful and unfriendly. When we went down to get the hair dryer for our room (can you believe that they don't bother to put one in the rooms?!) the guy was like "here get it and get out of my sight".

The room itself was clean and small, but you would have to wash all the utensils before using them. The decor and the contents of the room were old. Breakfast was to be expected from Quest apartments - however, our juice looked like it'd been opened... The corridors were dark and uninviting.

We were checked out by one of the cleaning staff as there was no one manning the office at the time we needed to check out, even though this was well after it's official office hours.... Apparently we were told by this lady that our room was one of the better ones.

This place has given us second thoughts about staying at Quest again.

We stayed at a number of Quest owned apartments throughout our 3 weeks in NZ, including one in Auckland and one in Taupo. This one, on the Terrace in Wellington, was by far the worst of them all (including the non-Quest ones!)
The place was very shabby, the rooms were shabby and smelly, the breakfast pack consists of 2 slices of bread, a small butter, some preserves and a packet of cereal.
The stereo didn't work, the TV didn't work, some lights bulbs were out - all reported and (apart from the stereo) fixed eventually.
The location isn't ideal - what the brochures DON'T tell you is that the rear of the Terrace (including this hotel and others) has a great view of the busiest motorway in Wellington, less than 100 yds away!
Whatever you do, don't pay for the hitel car park - unless you drive a midget of a car there's little chance of negotiating the wodden helter-skelter to get to the allocated space - use the public car park at the rear of the hotel.
