Driving into Wellington having been several times, we found getting to the location a bit tricky, and when you arrive you have to enter the driveway via Mowbray St, not actually off Bolton. The reception staff were thoroughly proffessional, and knowledgable, and helped us to our room with no fuss. The room was very good, kitchenette, and sitting room, and separate bed room with comfy bed. Also handy was the free in room wi-fi (why don't more hotels offer this?) especially as we were trying to track the QANTAS groundings. A worthy place to stay in Wellington.

Room Tip: No need to pay for a room with a view, the botanic gardens are nice enough to look at.

We booked a spring into summer special for a night ...$229 for the room, tapas in the bar, valet parking and breakfast....have travelled the world and this hotel is up there for sure. Lots of little extra luxury items just made the difference...robes, slippers, beauty products and mud masks, luxury mags, .....we were even given an umbrella to take home as it was raining - the staff are fantastic.

Room Tip: We chose a Premier Suite which has a kitchen, seperate bedroom and bathroom. Bath, shower, living area, fully equipped modern kitchen with a washer/drier....everything we needed. Ask for a garden view and make sure you get the valet parking if you have a car.

We stayed at the Bolton Hotel for three nights for a getaway break. It is located very close to Parliament and is just a laneway away from Lambton Quay for shopping and nearby restaurants. It is a fairly small hotel, and although it doesn't have the 'flash' Day Spa experience that many 5 star hotels might have, it has good facilities, without being pretentious. The restaurant serves a small menu of lunch and dinner meals. Breakfast is quite well priced for a city hotel. We stayed in a clssic studio, which was a good size and perfectly adequate for our needs (we didn't want kitchen facilites). The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed linen crisp and white.

We stayed at the Bolton Hotel during the Rugby World Cup, so the prices were a bit inflated during this time and this was one of the few hotels with rooms still available. Without knowing Wellington too well, it seemed like the location was fairly central, however upon arrival, it was evident it wasn't actually close to a lot of the shops and restaurants/bars. If you're on business or going to a sports game (which we were), it would be pretty handy, but it's a good 20-30min walk to the main retail/eating district. Aside from this though, the rooms themselves are very spacious (included a separate kitchen and living room) and clean and the staff were very helpful with maps and information. So if you don't mind a bit of a walk, this is a nice hotel to stay in, otherwise I would recommend somewhere closer to the waterfront and/or Te Papa museum.

Room Tip: See if you can ask for a harbour facing room.

Very central and good location overall. Small lobby but large, well furnished room, with kitchenette. Nice furnishings and good fittings. Small but intimate dining room for breakfast with a good selection. Friendly service overall.
