The Bolton Hotel is a great hotel to stay in! We booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a kitchen & it was very comfortable.

Each bedroom was large & included a large robe & 42 inch LCD screen. One bedroom had a generous full ensuite. The bed was incredibly comfortable.

The hotel conceirge was very helpful & we enjoyed making use of the swimming pool & spa.

Very good value for money!

We had a two bed apartment, well equipped, spacious, clean, smart, views over CBD. Bit away from eateries but near shops, quite hilly. We had a quibble with restaurant over BYO offer, they then wanted to charge corkage after the meal, you have to watch this sort of thing in NZ.

We and our friends shared the two-bedroom Presidential Suite on a recent two-night stay in Wellington. We appreciated the sleek, modern look of the living room, dining area and bedrooms and the view from our balcony over the city. The amenities were great with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The only drawback to the room was the single bathroom when we'd expected two.

We liked the hot tub and workout area. Breakfast was good, but a bit expensive and confusingly structured. Once we asked specific questions, it became clear.

The hotel staff was quite helpful in directing us around town and arranging for taxis.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom studio with garden views (room 605) for 3 nights.

The hotel room was very comfortable with an excellent kitchen area (including dish washer and washer dryer for clothes). The bed was very comfortable. The hotel also offers a choice of pillows. There were blockout curtains in the bedroom too. The room was very quiet and we slept very well.

Unfortunately there were no blockout curtains in the lounge room which meant the room was very hot at the end of the day (there was an air coniditioner though).

The bathroom was a good size and was well appointed. The bathroom products available were great. The towels were thick and fluffy and plentiful.

The hotel provides 2 computers with internet access in the lobby.

We used the on site car parking (in a car stacker) and the car was always available within 5 minutes of request.

The location of the hotel seems to be pretty much at the end of the central business district, right next to the parliamentary buildings. This means you're in for a 20 - 30 min walk at night if you want to walk to cuba st or courtney quarter to go to any of the great bars, cafes, restaurants in those areas. The hotel is very close to Lambton Quay (lots of shopping!).

The one main negative of our stay was the staff attitude. We thought that they were very aloof, or perhaps didn't want to be working at the Bolton? They were generally unfriendly and did not seem to try to make guests welcome. We bumped into numerous staff in corridoors, in the lifts and generally around the hotel and no-one really greeted us at all, despite a few attempts on our part.

Having said that, we found a mistake on our bill when we were checking out. The discount offer that we were taking up had not been applied to our bill. This was rectified prompty with an apology.

Overall we would stay at the hotel again as we really enjoyed the peacful and comfortable rooms.

Stayed in the Bolton for a week over new year whilst seeing friends. Staff are very helpful, rooms good size and well equipped (although if you want a bath ask for one, as ours didnt have one). The pool is a training pool only (i.e. enough room for only two to do lengths). The gyms is great, as is the jacuzzi.

Food was excellent, and room service very good indeed. Housekeeping was also very good and willing to shift their work around our free times.

My only complaint would the the in room internet, which slower than DSL so any form of videoconference is impossible - if you are doing business work, not so good.

Our 2 night stay in Wellington happened to fall on a weekend, and I was able to get a fantastic package deal via the hotel's website. As a result, we were able to book a 1 bedroom suite for 2 nights for an incredible price (our package also included some chocolates, Kahlua + 1 breakfast for 2 people).

This is definitely a swanky boutique hotel. It is a little on the antiseptic / unfriendly side - I didn't find the hotel staff to be that nice or accommodating. However, what it lacks in service it makes up for in amenities. The rooms are top notch, and our 1 bedroom suite even had a washer/dryer combo! There is also a great gym, small pool, spa tub + sauna in the hotel.

The one thing that some travelers may not like is its location in relation to the sites + restaurants. This hotel is located in the business district, which is great for business travelers. However, we were tourists and found most things were a 20+ minute walk away. Personally, we didn't mind this at all, b/c we like walking around new places. However, there isn't much around the hotel to do/see/eat, so walking is definitely required.

We thoroughly enjoyed Wellington and this hotel.
