It's been many years since I trekked up to Mt KauKau, but I'm writing a review anyway, as I regularly used to pack a lunch and head up for a walk on my own, with the family, friends or with our family dog.
Visiting recently with my husband, I so wanted to take him up there, but we were strapped for time. Next time, for sure!
If you love bush walking, and love great views (who doesn't?) then this is a must. Put your bush walking gear on, good shoes, pack some food and drink (you don't have to, but it is lovely to sit and have a picnic when you've reached the top, and take in the views over a sandwich and a thermos cup of tea). It takes about 2-3 hours if you want to take your time. 1-2 if you're in it for the fitness challenge.
