“Traffic Jam at breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

Admittedly, this choice was made relatively late, and largely related to price. The room was perfectly satisfactory, and I slept well. Breakfast was another matter. The choice was between Continental and Full, and I chose Continental, and my adult son chose Full. The Continental was only 20% cheaper than the Full, and no way of knowing what was included and what was excluded. All the choices were mixed together on the same bench. The area set aside for serving yourself was narrow, and there was no obvious way of knowing if it was intended that one move from the coffee end to the cereal end or vice versa. Consequently, patrons were bumping into one another frequently. This problem was compounded by serving staff being forced to use the same narrow space to replace depleted items. They appeared stressed and frustrated, and it showed in their faces and voices. Worse still, I discarded two bowls that hadn't been washed properly before using one that was still wet, but at least appeared clean. No, it probably isn't the best-designed space for a breakfast buffet, but that's no excuse for not creating a workable system, and certainly no excuse for dirty crockery. Sleep in this hotel, but eat elsewhere - the management's not up to the job.

This is a reasonable hotel however I would recommend being above the 8th floor. We were on the 4th floor and the traffic noise was very loud. The bed was also too soft (personally I like a firm mattress) and it has bad roll together - perhaps time to upgrade. Overall it was good value, and they allowed us a late check out given the all blacks were playing France!

We stayed here for 3 nights on our vacation. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the city. The room is spacious and has a modern feel to it. Check in was a breeze too. On the second morning, we decided to try the hotel buffet. However, I was a little disappointed. The range of food is average and the only highlight was the delightful juices which came in small bottles. For the price we paid, it's not exactly value for money. I would advise hotel guests to skip the breakfast and head out to the city centre instead.

Have been coming here for three years. Tried the rest and this is the best. Service is exceptional. The resteraunt is fantastic with a great breakfast service and the best steaks in town. Its only a short waterfront walk to the action in the city. For some reason this puts a few tourists off. A shame because this hotel is great and they often do promos to get weekend occupancy up.

Fabulous! If you're looking for budget accommodation this isn't it, but as the old saying goes you really do get what you pay for. The restaurant is excellent, and breakfast particularly incredible! Rooms are of the highest standard and extremely quiet - difficult for an inner city hotel to achieve. Staff were very helpful when we inadvertently left a charger behind and only realised when we were back home, but we received it in overnight courier thanks to the staff. Great location too, you really can't go wrong.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have two windows, and let in lots of natural light. Choose a room numbered "15&qu...

I booked two nights here having heard great things on Twitter and other sites about them. I loved the room and the pillow menu was a great touch. It was a great 2 nights and the staff were great!

The breakfast was divine and I am looking forward to my next long weekend getaway.

Also loved that the staff helped me get a great deal and gave me advice on the Priority VIP cards on Twitter! Great use of social media!!

Room Tip: I was on the 7th floor and it wasn't too noisy. The rooms with a seaview are good :)

Conveniently positioned and good value. We were there for WOW so it was a busy time. I had asked for an early check in and got it which was great. The room was tastefully decorated and the only thing that was missing was a robe. We had a twin room and both beds were queens so nice and big There was a small area for tea and coffee with a sink, fridge toaster and the crockery was well stocked. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had snacks in the restaurant on a very busy evening but everything was good although it did take a little time to come. I am a member of the Rydges privilege club so we had 20% discount on food and drinks in the bar and a discount on the room. Well worth it! It is on a very windy corner so do be careful when opening car doors. All in all a very pleasant stay.
