So happy i found this place. This apartment is a home away from home. I stayed with my partner and 2 small children. We all loved it. We stayed in May (a cold month) and the apartment kept is super warm and cosy. Bedding was of highest quality to keep us warm at night too. The views from this apartment are incredible. The owners really know how to look after their guests. Arriving to an amazing loaf of bread and other goodies to ensure we are well looked after. Only a short walk away from the city and botanical garden which the kids loved. Totally recomend this place to anyone thinking of visiting wellington.
Acorns Apartment in Thorndon, Wellington, is a fantastic place to stay at while visiting Wellington. It is high up on a hill and therefore has panoramic views over Wellington city and harbour.
The interior is of the highest standard and very well finished off, with plush carpets, excellent furnishings, a decently equipped kitchen, and a stunning bathroom with the best shower I have seen in years! There was ample stock of laundry soap, toilet paper, dish soap, and even olive oil!
There is a library of travel and other books in the lounge, sturdy luggage racks in the cupboards, and super comfortable beds in the rooms! And Emily left us a hugely appreciated "starter pack" of bread, spreads, coffee, tea, and so on to make us feel settled as we arrived.
And going back in time, even my enquiries and booking procedure was professionally handled, as was the check-in email a week before which contained every detail we could possibly need!
Although the most expensive of the places we stayed at on our 11 day road trip, this was definitely the best one! Absolutely I'd urge bona fide travelers to consider staying here if the apartment is available. I cannot fault it at all!
Didn't know what to expect. The road up was very steep, the car complained all the way and the apartment was up several flights of stairs. Didn't follow the instructions but found it easier to take the cases to the front door. Once inside we were blown away. The apartment was modern, bright and very well appointed. The owners had left eggs, bread, orange juice and milk to get us started as well as the usual tea etc. The views out of the windows were spectacular. It was almost a shame to leave and see the sights. Everything seemed to be within an easy drive from the apartment and there were several good restaurants within 2 minutes walk. I would recommend this place and just wish I could have spent longer there.
My best friend and I recently moved to Wellington, and began our adventure with a stay in this vacation rental while we got situated and found a place to live. What a wonderful introduction to our new home city!
Emily was an incredible hostess, going far above and beyond to make sure we were good to go upon our arrival. Even before our move to New Zealand, she was an ideal contact to have in an unfamiliar country, and made our transition a little easier.
The spacious 2 bedroom apartment itself is lovely in every way. The view is spectacular, and took our breath away every morning. As someone who loves to cook, the kitchen provided everything we needed for some solid meals. And the Thorndon location is great and very convenient, although prepare yourself for a steep walk home from downtown if you forgo the bus! We were very comfortable, and genuinely didn't want to leave.
Overall, a highly recommended vacation rental, due in no small part to wonderful hosts.
Excellent location and views! It was a big surprise to find fresh bread & eggs for breakfast! Would highly recommend!
We loved our stay at Acorns - it's close enough to wander into the city for the day or around the botanical gardens. Easy to find with the instructions and car park a huge bonus. Modern decoration, comfy sofas and beds. Lovely and warm for winter and kitchen equipped with everything you could need - although we ate out at the recommended Italian restaurant 2 mins walk away (delicious ). Lovely apartment and good spot to explore Welly!
Communication with owners was excellent as was the 'starter' pack which included fresh bread, eggs and milk.
