“authentic malay and indian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

had a malay curry which was beautiful and a masala dosa which tasted a little Malay in its spicing rather than southern Indian it was very nice. Go for the Malay food . BYO wine is $5, bottle shop just down the road.

“What a find......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014

This restaurant was practically opposite our hotel. We liked the sound Malaysian and South Indian cuisine and as it still looked busy we thought to give it a try. We were squeezed in with little problem. The wait staff were attentive and helpful and the service was nice and quick. Very tempted by the curried goat, we ended up having a Goan fish curry, a Malaysian vegetarian dish and a prawn dish from the entrees all together. With a rice and a roti this was an ample amount for the two of us. Flavours were hot and spicy; just what we wanted. Top marks for this place.

“A great place for atmosphere and beautiful food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2014

We were visiting on holiday and loved Rasa so much we came back! The compact building makes for a great atmosphere when it's humming with activity. The Dosai was fantastic. Highly recommended.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2013

Rasa is an unassuming looking restaurant in Cuba Street. However the food is divine. There is an extensive and varied menu of dishes from Southern India and Malaysia. The service is prompt and friendly and prices very reasonable. After discovering this gem we have been coming regularly and trying different dishes. They are all so delicious it is hard to recommend any in particular, although the Dosai rate pretty high.

“Good, cheap and uncomfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

This is a very small restaurant with problably a little too many shaky tables for the customers to feel comfortable (there are nevertheless two tables near the kitchen that are quite satisfactory but unfortunately were occupied when we arrived to the restaurant). But the food is excellent and the waiters are quick and nice, which makes your lunch or dinner a good experience. The prices are very low, mainly if you compare them with the quality of the food (less than 90 nz dollars for a plentiful dinner), and it is a BYO restaurant; all of which induces me to contemplate the possibility of paying another visit to this place before leaving Wellington.
