We stayed 1 night in a studio apartment. On arrival, Bruce showed us to our room. It was large, airy, clean, with a fully equiped kitchen area. We were able to park right outside. In the main room was a small dining table & 2 padded chairs, a TV/desk unit, small wardrobe, 2 x armchairs & double bed.
The wall behind the bed & the curtains were a dark purple - wasn't sure if it was too dark, but finally decided was quite contemporary. The bedspread was frilly with pastel flowers: not our personal taste, but OK. The bedding was clean, fresh & ironed. We had a snug, good sleep.
Bathroom: large, clean & light. The shower directed straight at the shower door, so the floor outside got rather wet. Commodore had the smallest hairdryer I'd seen, but it was very powerful!
Nice setting, a few km outside of Blenheim, but only took a few minutes to drive in. Supermarket just along the road.
Took our evening meal at the Secret Garden, where they had a jam session - got better as the night went on.
When we arrived, the main door was open, & we noted a few flies on the ceiling. As it was warm, we kept the door open to circulate air, & more flies joined the party. We sprayed with fly spray (our own) before we went out & on our return @ 10pm, they were still alive. We gave another good spraying before bed time. When we woke up, we counted 10 flies: they were all stationary, but still alive! Assume this to be a seasonal problem. Didn't bother us too much, but had they been flying around all night & buzzing, that'd have been different.
