“Great day in the Blenheim area!”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

We booked a half day tour of the Blenheim area. Hamish was our host and was delightful and fun to be with throughout the day. We were met by Hamish at the Blenheim airport for our tour. We first visited a local olive grower and had a great time learning about the various olive trees and the different olive oils that are produced in the Blenheim region as well as around the world. We then toured a local English garden that was beautiful. We moved on to a tour of a local herb grower and that tour was very interesting. After lunch at a local winery, we did a wine tasting at another vineyard. We finished our tour with a behind the scenes tour of a winery- they walked us through each step of the process, from the collection of grapes to the bottling of the finished product, and showed us the equipment used for each step of the process
.
A very relaxing and delightful day, meeting with local growers and seeing some of the behind the scenes activity. Hamish was a terrific host and we would highly recommend the tour to others.

“Explore Marlborough really pulled the stops out!”
Reviewed 6 February 2013

We booked a personal bike tour of Marlborough Vineyards with 'Explore Marlboough' but as luck would have it, it turned out to be one of the very few days when it rained. Karen our super duper guide and joint owner of the company called first thing to offer instead an escorted 4 wheel version of the excursion which proved to be an excellent alternative.

Every visit was well judged starting with the scenic Brancott Estate, incorporating our special requests to include Spy Valley (and on the way look for wildlife in the wetland areas!) Nothing was too much trouble and the places which Karen suggested turned out to be great in particular Bladen, Seresin and Nautilus - all terrific in different ways - just do it to find out more!

We had lunch at Wairau which was 'tip-top'

Can't recommend this enough. Well done Karen and Bridge & Wickers our tour company for a fabulous experience.

“Grand day out”
Reviewed 5 December 2012

We went on a wine tour by bicycle with Norm Wilson. This was a great day out, and a very good way to tour some excellent vineyards without worrying about drink and driving (though my wife actually seemed steadier on her bike after a couple of tastes). Highly recommended.

“A view of the region from a locals perspective.”
Reviewed 25 November 2012 via mobile

We did the bike tour and really enjoyed our experience. From A non-bikers perspective, i can tell you that it was easy and very ennoyable to travel on bike versus any other mode I can think of. The tour was tailored to our knowledge level. Hamish was a great guide and was able to give us a view of wines from his professional culinary background. We really enjoyed his company, never felt rushed on a schedule, and went at a leisurely pace. We felt like we were spending time with a friend instead of a cheesy tour guide.

Again, we would suggest this tour to anyone who would like to your the area with a more hands on approach. The bike allows you to stop at any time and be a part of the beautiful scenery. If you would like a great guide that is knowledgeable in the area, wine, and food, and is friendly without being overbearing, you should ask for Hamish.

“Taste of Marborough half day tour - Hard to beat!”
Reviewed 23 August 2012

The Taste of Marborough Half Day Tour started with a hotel pick-up in a luxury 4WD and then a leisurely meander through the beautiful Blenheim region on an equally beautiful early spring day. A visit to local honey producer The Honey Company, to sample the range of local honeys was both informative and a tasting sensation. Then on to collect gumboots (because the area had recently experienced local flooding) and a visit to local olive grower Basil Stanton at Stanton Olive Oils, a tour of the olive groves and an insight into what is involved in olive oil production. This former oceanographer has a wikipeadic knowedge about olives and willingly shared this. On then to local herb and lettuce grower Martyn Birch from Thymebank whose operation produces up to 20,000 lettuces a week for supermarkets and restaurants in Marlborough. Martyn is a perfect example of the new breed of entrepreneurs who identify a need and mobilize the resources to create a highly successful operation. Late in the morning we found time for a delightful lunch in the warm sunlight at Rock Ferry, a beautiful restaurant and winery well known in the area. Tour guide, local chef and entrepreneur Hamish Beard was a superb host, his local expertise and in depth knowedge of the local food and wine scene adding enormously to the pleasure of basking in the ambience of a most beautiful part of the world.
