A great tour and worth the money (whilst not cheap) for those that wish to sample nice food and wine, and understand how local production works. This tour is particularly good for anyone who would like a deeper understanding of the Malborough region and it's history.

We had such a fabulous day with our guide Hamish and got to see and do things we wouldn't have on our own. We learned about asparagus at a local farm and picked some ourselves, then we went to view some beautiful, beautiful gardens. Then it was off to an olive grove to learn about making olive oil and tasting the different oils. A stop at a local artist's ceramic studio followed. After a very delicious lunch at a winery (with tastings) we headed across the road to another winery, Nautilus, for a tour with the winemaker. We tasted wines straight from the barrels! Hamish, who is a chef, also worked in a quick stop at the supermarket for us as we'd been talking food all day, and a stop at a quilt shop to pick up some New Zealand fabric. Despite all the activities, we did not feel rushed. Hamish is knowledgable about the area and made sure we got a good feel for Blenheim and its surroundings and that we enjoyed our day. Not sure how the rest of our vacation can match the fantastic day we had in Blenheim with Hamish.

This was a wonderful tour with unique experiences and delicious food and wine. Our tour guide, Hamish, was a terrific guide. He is a long time resident of the area and knew a great deal about the surrounding area and history of Marlborough. He is also a trained chef and so really knows his food and wines. Hamish drove us to the various places and the tour started with a stop at the Putake honey company where we met one of the owners who had a great story about how she and her husband got into the business. We did a tasting of several of the honeys and learned fascinating information about bee keeping. The next stop was at the Stanton olive groves where we sat down in the courtyard of the owner's home and had an olive oil tasting. Thirdly we stopped at an asparagus farm. The owners were a very friendly couple and, as we knew next to nothing about how asparagus was grown, it was great to find out about the industry and we even got to harvest a few asparagus spears! The last stop was to do a wine tasting and have lunch at the Wairau winery which has a lovely tasting room and gardens and delicious food and tasty wines.

It was a nicely paced tour and a great look at the local agriculture industry. Hamish was also very helpful in suggesting additional things to do and restaurants we could try.

I would highly recommend this!

Our travel agent booked our private tour of the Marlborough area and it was one of the nicest days of our trip. Our guide, Hamish, picked us up at our hotel and we had a comfortable and informative ride as we made our way to various destinations. We stopped at a small organic farm, run by a gracious couple. From there, we went on to a private garden that was probably the most beautiful garden I've ever seen, designed and maintained by a lovely woman and her husband. A stop with a woman who had an upstart company selling honey, a look around a private artist's studio and a tasting at a winery were among the others. It was a great way to meet interesting people who were all invested in the community. The lunch we had at one of the wineries was just perfect and it was a lovely setting. Hamish was definitely the reason we enjoyed our day so much. He was very personable and it was nice to get his perspective on things as far as the Marlborough region and New Zealand in general. I would highly recommend a day like this to anyone.

We booked a half day tour of the Blenheim area. Hamish was our host and was delightful and fun to be with throughout the day. We were met by Hamish at the Blenheim airport for our tour. We first visited a local olive grower and had a great time learning about the various olive trees and the different olive oils that are produced in the Blenheim region as well as around the world. We then toured a local English garden that was beautiful. We moved on to a tour of a local herb grower and that tour was very interesting. After lunch at a local winery, we did a wine tasting at another vineyard. We finished our tour with a behind the scenes tour of a winery- they walked us through each step of the process, from the collection of grapes to the bottling of the finished product, and showed us the equipment used for each step of the process
.
A very relaxing and delightful day, meeting with local growers and seeing some of the behind the scenes activity. Hamish was a terrific host and we would highly recommend the tour to others.
