“Great place to eat, drink and sleep!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2009

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Thankfully, we had managed to park in one of the few spaces at the side of the hotel with no intention of moving the car again during our short stay (but limited parking could be a problem). Our room was the eponymous D'Urville room, decorated in a colonial style with a lovely big four poster bed and comfortable armchairs and a quirky little bathroom with copper fittings. Apparently all the rooms have a subtle theme to make them a bit more interesting than standard hotel decor and we certainly appreciated the finishing touches such as maps on the wall and relevant books. The building is an old Public Trust building and has a fabulous vault in which guests can relax with a glass of port, away from the main hotel bar.

The restaurant served us perhaps one of the best meals we've eaten in New Zealand with helpful recommendations for appropriate wines to match each course. Breakfast was a reasonable continental selection (included in our basic rate) or a cooked option which we didn't sample. Service throughout was with a smile!

The town of Blenheim itself hasn't much to offer but the many vineyards in its periphery make it a desirable place to stop for a night or two. We plan to head back up in a couple of months and will be staying at Hotel D'Urville again without hesitation.

Great service and lovely room - The Angel Room - with four poster bed, real luxury. Would recommend dining in the restaurant - was one of the best meals I had on my whole trip around New Zealand. It was a real shame I wasn't stopping longer. If ever revisit Blenheim would certainly stop there again.

Quiet, charming boutique hotel. Friendly staff who go out of their way to help but are not intrusive. Upscale dining experience for dinner. Good location within walking distance of other restaurants, shops and sights.

We stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday at the end of March. After touring the south island and staying mostly in motels it was a lovely change. We had the Raja room which was very nicely decorated in Indian style, although the bathroom was smallish with shower only, no bathtub. We had a great time and found all the staff very helpful, especially at reception and in the bar! Just one exception when it took ages to order a cooked breakfast.
We had a good dinner one night (although not cheap) and liked the bar. Really enjoyed our stay here and our tour round the wineries.

This hotel is centrally placed in an ideal location for exploring this small town in the heart of the Marlborough Wine Region.

I was given the Raja room, which not surprisingly had an Indian theme to it. The room was very imaginatively styled and furnished and beautifully appointed. Sadly, there is no lift access to the rooms, but the hotel staff will porter your heavy luggage up to your room for you, to save you having to lug it up the stairs.

The hotel has its own restaurant serving excellent fine dining.

This gem of a hotel is located in a renovated bank building in downtown Blenheim. Our reservation was arranged by business associates and we were pleasently surprised at how clean and comfortable this hotel was. Our room was upstairs through the old vault doors and so was very quiet! But all the rooms were fixed out with comfortable beds, modern baths, air conditioning and first class linens. Breakfast was also included. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The only down side was the town - it closed down by 6pm! The hotel does have an attractive bar and restaurant, but too formal for what we were looking for. Breakfast in the restaurant was great so I would imagine dinner would be good too. We would definately stay there upon returning to Blenheim.

A beautiful hotel with just 10 rooms right in the centre of Blenheim, with parking at front and rear of hotel. We arrived at hotel and were shown to our room, which was gorgeous. We had a four poster bed, with a lovely bathroom with a powerful shower. There is a bar inside or take the opportunity to sit out in the sun at the back on the decking and probably the best bar in the town. There is port available free of charge on the landing for guests and a continental breakfast was included with our rate. Make sure you book a table in the restaurant for dinner, it is amazing food. A great stay and highly recommended.
