Stayed here with my niece and partner near the start of my trip - first taste of homestay in NZ and it set a very high benchmark. Great food, perfect location for our cycle ride round the wineries and interesting discussions with Kiwis over dinner and shared bottles of wine. But the welcome and the extra touches in the rooms were the bonuses. Highly recommended.

My husband and I rented bikes from John & Paulette our first day in NZ. They were absolutely wonderful! They both gave us the friendliest greeting at the front door when we arrived and got back to me right away over email beforehand. John gave us a map and routed out the best wineries to visit, and he and Paulette were sincerely excited to hear about our day afterwards. They are such a wonderful couple and their home is beautiful, set on a vineyard and lovely gardens. If they hadn't have been booked that night we would have loved to stay! They are so warm and accommodating. I couldn't recommend a better place to stay -- or to rent quality bikes from. We also bought a couple bottles of wine and fit them right into the wine pouch on the side of the bike. Such an awesome day. Thank you again, John & Paulette!

Stonehaven is a beautiful property set in idyllic surroundings. John and Paulette are fantastic hosts, warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We felt very privaledged to be part of their home. Paulettes cooking is world class with absolutely devine meals and beautiful breakfasts. You will be spoilt and not want to go anywhere else to dine. John's collection of wines to match is also a treat. The rooms are spacious, cosy and well kept. Of course the wineries being within biking/walking distance make this area a very desirable destination.

We didn't expect this at all.
This place is actually amazing.
Its really close to the airport, close to town (quick drive) and nestled amongst a beautiful vineyard.
John and Paulette were friendly, accommodating and made us feel right at home. In fact, it felt more as though we were lucky enough to be staying with incredibly hospitable family friends.
We had family events to attend, so were rushing in and out, and arrived late on our first nights stay. This was no problem, and found that our bed had been re-made and chocolates left on our pillows. This, in addition to the home cooked baking also left in our room made us feel particularly spoiled.
The real treat was on in the morning however, and at 830 am, we were greeted with a cooked breakfast of our choice, coffee, freshly baked muffins, and an assortment of fresh fruit straight from the garden - strawberries, raspberries and home stewed black doris plums. We got rhubarb also on the second morning.
John and Paulette were delightful and engaging hosts, and chatted to us about local politics and their lives before Blenheim.
We would recommend this stay to anyone - it was truly 5 star. We will most defiantly be staying next time we are in Blenheim, or when we simply require a pampered weekend away.

Stonehaven is a beautiful property located in the centre of the Marlborough wine region. John and Paulette are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable with amazing views of the surrounding wineries and mountains. We were lucky enough to enjoy Paulette's yummy muffins and John's fresh strawberries for breakfast. I would recommend a minimum two night stay so you can tour the local wineries. This is one the best places we stayed at during our trip around the South Island.

Wonderful place. Easy to find, right in the middle of the best vineyards in the world. The hospitality and services were 5 star! Nothing was too much trouble for John and Paulette. The breakfast was great, the room was spotless and we loved the extra touches of biscuits and all the facilities of 5 star hotel but the warmth and homely feel of a family home! We wished the weather was better to take advantage of the bike hire but there will be a next time. We also were really impressed with extensive local knowledge and guidance for the next part of our driving holiday. We got to see things that were not in the guide books! Thank you so much for having us stay and we can't wait come back and experience it all over again!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay here. We were delighted to have had your company at Stonehaven. We assume you found the magical waterfall on the way to Kaikoura - hope there were some baby seals to entertain you and that you managed to see a whale or two during your Whale watch cruise.

It was a pleasure to host such friendly guests and look forward to the next time!!
All the best,
Paulette & John

A truly fine B&B. Gorgeous location within the vineyards. Welcoming hosts and a lovely building. Many thoughtful touches - tea and extensive snacks in the room, complimentary port and sherry, heated floors in bathroom, super comfy beds. Just nothing to fault. Breakfast - incredible! John's freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice and Paulette's muffins TO DIE FOR! It rained all the time - but what a fine place to relax and snuggle up in bed with a book. We hope to visit again some day. Many thanks!
