Supremely comfortable. Caring and congenial hosts. Beautiful location with a feast of culinary opportunities together with some of the world's finest wines on your doorstep. Our fifth visit - need we say more?

We had booked to stay here 5 nights over the Marlborough Food and wine festival. We had no idea what it would be like and were hoping it would be OK for such a long stay .Well - we needn't have have worried ,it was the best accommodation we have stayed in in NZ for sure ! Paulette and John are the finest hosts and were so attentive to our wants and needs. The house is immaculate and kept to a high standard, rooms with beautiful views,decor,extras,linens,mini-fridges,tiny decanters of port and sherry ,all so thoughtful. The breakfasts are wonderful, beautifully laid out on crisp white linen, and so fresh and delicious ,the muffins, cooked eggs etc, absolutely gorgeous, and John makes excellent toast and coffee !!
They are very chatty and the conversations are convivial ,on every subject. On the day of the festival John drove us there, gave us his cell phone and picked us up when we called which was so thoughtful and enabled us to taste many wines without worrying about driving!
There are so many other great things about Stonehaven, may of which have been mentioned by other reviewers -but go yourself and find out -stay a few days and have one of Paulette's gourmet dinners too with a selection of wine from John's cellar -you won't be disappointed !!

This was my second stay with Paulette and John at Stonehaven and as always, it was wonderful. Paulette's cooking as out of this world and would rival most top restaurants anywhere in New Zealand. Paul is incredibly knowledgeable about the wines of the area and also the history of New Zealand amongst many other things. Great dinner party debate and the guests that we have met whilst staying at Stonehaven have all been wonderful and like minded.

Stonehaven is a great place to base yourself whilst visiting the many great vineyards in Marlborough being very central to the area. A wonderful home from home with excellent accommodation and a warm welcoming feeling to this peaceful haven in beautiful wine country.

Room Tip: The Nikau King room has a great balcony overlooking the vines and the majestic Mt Riley.

Nestled in the heart of Marlborough Wine Country, this modern wood and timber house is a delightful place to stay. We stayed in the Queen bedroom, which had amazing views of the vineyards out both windows in the bedroom as well as the skylight window in the bathroom. The room was nicely decorated and the bed quite comfortable. The room had a small refrigerator with complimentary snacks, soft drinks, and water. There was also beer and wine for an additional fee.

The owners John and Paulette were lovely people – very friendly and helpful in making recommendations on wineries to visit, restaurants to eat at, and sights and activities in the South Island.

The breakfast is served in the sunroom and was abundant and delicious. They offer a full continental breakfast (complete with warm citrus muffin!) as well as a hot breakfast cooked to order.

They also have bicycles on site if you want to rent them for cycling through the vineyards to the various wineries in the region.

This was one of our favorite places to stay on our trip to New Zealand – we wish we had booked more than one night and will definitely come back if we return to New Zealand.

We stayed here for 2 days and really could not have asked for more. John and Paulette really make you feel at home during your stay. They not only offer you a cup of tea in the afternoon, but take time to sit down and talk with their guests, not just guest "nice talk" but real conversation, it really makes you feel like you are visiting friends. The location is amongst the vineyards and we had a fantastic view of the vineyard and distant hills from our room

The breakfast includes the finest ingredients, as I have never seen a more perfect looking bowl of fruit salad ever and every bite of fresh fruit was fantastic. I didn't indulge in a muffin but they looked great and my wife loved hers. I had fresh eggs and bacon, both cooked perfectly. We had to leave early on our last day and they got breakfast going an hour earlier than usual so that we didn't leave without eating.

They are very proud of New Zealand and of their wonderful home and it shows!

Blenheim is at the heart of the Marlborough wine region, new Zealand's largest wine producing area. Stonehaven is set right at the heart of the wine tasting area.. John & Paulette met us outside and introduced us into their home. We sat and had tea & home made cakes/biscuits. John offered loads of advice as to where to cycle and which wineries to visit. We had per booked the bikes so after settling into our beautiful rooms we cycled off to the first winery. Sauvignon Blanc was the first we tried followed by Pinot Noir!! We had also per booked a three course dinner at a cost of $80 per person. Paulette is an extremely good cook!!!!!! John also has a wine cellar where you can choose a decent bottle of wine. We sat and chatted with them during our meal & had a lovely time. Breakfast is served in the pool room outside. Such an excellent breakfast!! A memorable stay which unfortunately only lasted one night, stay longer if you can you won't be disappointed!! 5*+

Room Tip: We stayed in the Nikau room & Pohutakawa room. Both over look the manicured gardens. Look at th...

Spent 4 nights at Stonehaven Homestay in November. What a gorgeous retreat, a lovely home surrounded by vineyards. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and their attention to detail was incredible. Breakfast served in the outdoor gazebo was a fabulous start to each day. Might be worth checking some of the dining recommendations though - information was dated.

Room Tip: Go for the larger room with the balcony. The views are amazing.
