My wife and I stayed as Chateau Marlborough, for 2 nights, in early March, this year. This whole trip was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.
The hotel is wonderful, lovely to look at, very friendly staff, in fact everything you would want.
Location is good, on the edge of town.
The 'but' was the food, we ate in Quench on our 1st night, the service was dreadfully slow. When the starter eventually came it was OK. That went and after an eternity our Main meal arrived, mine was again OK but my wife's was so over cooked she had no option but to send it back. Another was offered by the waiter but we decided not to wait again and declined. the waiter was very apologetic and took the wine off the bill. Despite this we went for breakfast the next morning, this was even worse, we both had Fried Eggs on Toast, the eggs over cooked and the toast was so over cooked it was brittle. Very poor value for money.
Needless to say on the 2nd night we ate out and also breakfast the next morning.
To sum up, very disappointing and lets down a lovely hotel.More
