Stayed in a lovely one bedroom apartment, where each room was tastefully decorated and incredibly spacious. The bedroom had a walk-in dressing room, which was a pleasant surprise! A nice comfortable bed too.

The kitchen is well equipped, with a washer/dryer that proved extremely useful after a week’s travelling. Although I did not take photos I can confirm that those on the hotel’s website (March 2014) are very much a true likeness.

A special little extra was some complimentary port, which I personally didn’t try but certainly appreciated the offer.

There is a window between the bathroom and bedroom that allows for TV viewing (if so inclined) from the comfort of the double spa bath. But there is an electric blind for privacy as well. I was impressed with the large thick towels (they hadn't lost their fluffiness).

The only downside to this apartment was that it looked over the car park (I was on the ground floor). Noise was not an issue that I noted, but when the curtains were open it did mean you were on display to anyone and everyone using the car park. Something to increase the privacy, without plunging the room into darkness, is the only suggestion I would have to improve this apartment.

Thank you for placing your thoughts on your stay with us. It was magnificent to read that you found that our accommodation and facilities met your expectations. We are very proud of what the Chateau has to offer our guests and we do hope you will be back to enjoy them in the future.I noted the privacy on ground floor, the rooms do have tinted windows but appreciate you may feel exposed.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. After booking through the internet all email communications with the staff were so efficient and friendly. They booked some activities for us prior to our arrival and were able to suggest other activities for us to do. The breakfast offered in the restaurant was very tasty. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. The bed was huge and so comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We had trouble finding someplace appealing and not outrageously expensive in Blenheim. We were pleased with our stay but there was nothing to really elevate it. We were two couples traveling together; at check-in, we were told that one couple had been upgraded (we did book separately, but at the same time and from the same city, and did make a note at booking that we were traveling together...so not sure why they acted so surprised). The suite to which they were upgraded was VERY nice. The woman at check-in acted chagrined that they were only upgrading one of the couples, but didn't take any action to address the weirdness that of course that caused. I'm not bothered that we weren't upgraded, but I do think they could have approached it differently (a free drink at the bar? laughing about it, even, instead of just acting like we had somehow put her on the spot?).

Our room was fine. It was ground level with a view of the pool, which was fortunately quiet at the time we were there. The room was comfortably outfitted, though cramped, and had a cleverly arranged kitchenette as a semi-separate room. There was a great deal of hall noise during the day but it was not bad at night. It was clean though not sparkling. This was the only place I stayed over 3 weeks in NZ that had any mosquitoes/moths in the room; probably because the pool was right outside our window with lots of greenery. Pretty, but a screen would have helped!

We were glad to have easy parking and a central location--it was easy to walk to dinner--though I think in the future we would just try harder to find accommodation at a nearby vineyard or farmstay.

Room Tip: Get a suite! A big step up in visual appeal and space from the standard rooms.

Thank you for your feedback. I was sorry to read your comments and your disappointment on the upgrade given to the couple you travelled with and not yourselves also. If the rooms weren't booked together it is difficult for us to know that this is the case. We on occasion offer our guests complimentary upgrades if we had known that you were together then we certainly would of offered this to you. Once we are fully booked and guests have checked in it can be impossible to do. I have spoken to the team member that checked you in and this was the case. She felt that she had explained the situation to you . I apologise for this , as I have said in other feedback I wish I had been given the opportunity to rectify this for you whilst you were here. Thank you again .

Stayed 3 nights here as part of a family reunion. As a child growing up in the town, always wanted to stay there. Was not disappointed. Lovely room, king bed and good amenities. Would definitely come back. !

This is a lovely hotel. We arrived late as the ferry was late into Picton, but not to be flummoxed, the staff informed us that though we would be to late to have dinner in the dining room - they would be happy to provide room(suite) service. And so it was. As we were four adults travelling together we had booked the suite on the third floor (the penthouse). It had private access via elevator and was lovely. There was a large dining room table were the staff was happy to lay out our dinner. Both bedrooms were large and comfortable. Though only on the third floor we did a a bit of a view of Blenheim and the beautiful Catholic church just down the road. Breakfast was in the dining room and again we can only compliment the staff for their attentive service. I would highly recommend this hotel and particularly the penthouse.

I spent two nights here in a shared room with my parents. Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms and halls, and delicious food at the restaurant. The location is ideal for a walk into the main strip, and the staff were beyond helpful. Theres even a pillow menu!
the restaurant staff and ourselves got quite the giggle one night with dinner 'and a show' when a naked lady sat in the window moisturising herself. Hilarious.

We stayed in the penthouse for 5 nights in March. The moment we walked out of the lift straight into the apartment we were very impressed. The rooms were all nice a spacious and the balcony was huge. The housekeeping staff and the reception staff were all lovely, very friendly and helpful. The only negatives were when cooking breakfast for five adults there was only one fry pan that was buckled on the bottom. I did get another one the next day but that was also buckled so didn't sit properly on the element. An electric frypan would be a good thing to have. The bed and pillows were very comfy and we heard no outside noise. The lounge has aircon but the bedrooms don't so I was pleased I'd asked for a fan. Overall our experience was very good.
