The Tower Junction Lodge is totally neat and clean. We had a kitchenette and it was well stocked. The owner was nice also. We stayed here two nights because we arrived by train from Picton and were taking the TranzAlpine to Greymouth and return. The motel is actually in Addington, about 3km west of the city center. It is about a ten minute walk from the Railway station. There is a very good restaurant/pub called Speights Ale House about midway between the motel and the rail station. Near the pub is also Anna's Cafe where we had breakfast. There is a large Chinese restaurant about five minutes walk west on Blenheim Road. Between the motel and the city center there is a huge park and botanic garden. If your are without a car and don't like to walk or can't this may not be the best location. It is on a main bus route but we didn't use it and I don't know how good it is.
