“Really pleasant”
Reviewed 24 February 2010

Very helpful staff, very pleasant atmosphere, nice rooms (although the "small" doubles are really small) and a lovely, quiet location.
I would definitely recommend this place to couples looking for a peaceful spot outside the central hub and for those who are on a budget but still want somewhere decent. Lovely communal lounge also, with a pool table, books and games.

Great hostel, very spacious with great facilities. All rooms including kitchen had everything we needed and an added bonus in the bedrooms were electric blankets. The staff we really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much hassle. Really nice park across the road and the town centre was a 20 min walk away or the free shuttle bus was five minutes up the road. Very comfortable stay with the added bonus of free wifi.

Spent three nights at Dorset House in one of their single rooms. At $55 per night, this was a fantastic deal. The house is full of character and facilities very good (internet, pool table, very well equipped kitchen). The staff are very helpful too.

The park is at the end of the street and you can walk into town in about 10 minutes.

I would definitely recommend this as an outstanding (budget) and quiet place to stay.

Myself and partner stayed here at the end of 07-beginning of 08 for 2 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end of our trip. We ended up staying in the same room each time, I think they called it the 'deluxe twin'. It was a very reasonable cost (hence why choosing the deluxe and the room was really spacious with a sofa, tv, double windows and a double wardrobe. It was a shared bathroom but there was only one day I couldn't get to one at the time I wanted in the morning and the bathrooms were all very clean. The only negative I found was that a couple of evenings we went down to the common room to use the computers to find all the lights swtiched off in the room and a group of people watching tv in a corner. Despite passing right by them and saying hello, no one responded/acknowledged us/ suggested we turn the lights on when it became clear we were using the pcs. This might be because they have a lot of long term renters here I guess who got annoyed with short term tourists. either way, we were very happy with our choice overall and would recommend

When we go to CC again we'll probably try and stay a little more centrally somewhere but this was a great first/last accomodation and compared well to other accomodation on the trip
