“Wow! This is good.”

For a special meal in Christchurch you can't beat St Germain on Papanui Rd. All the dishes were amazing and the best we had had in NZ. There are lots of great restaurants in NZ. We had the scallops, venison and beef fillet and they were delicious. Also a good wine list and good service. We were celebrating the last night of our great NZ holiday. Thank you.

“culinary delight”

my husband and I went for our anniversary yesterday. the place is very nice and comfortable.
the food was superb. my husband ate venison, and I ate duck a l'orange. both meals were quite perfect. the texture, the subtle spicing. the helpings were not too big, which allowed for desert. the crepe suzette was also very very nice. the service was good. the price was not low but also not excessively expensive. it is really a place to go when you want to celebrate something.

“Excellent time, very good atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2014

As french people who love good wine and good food, St Germain, recommended by a friend, is like a piece of France in the middle of New Zeland.
The service was more than met our expectations, tasty and delicate dishes (special note to the beef in a salt crust).
With a warm and friendly atmosphere, you will not be disappointed by choosing this address.
Big thank you to Benjamin, our service during the meal.
His knowledges in New Zealand and French wines, proved remarkable.
Thank you to all of the epic St Germain.
Jo and Yann.

“Best French food we've had in a long time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

This is really well run restaurant and I disagree with the previous review about there being no ambiance. It feels fine dining and the food backs delivers in spades.

Four of us had the 5 course degustation menu with the matching wines. Each wine matched the dish perfectly with the exception of dessert. I disagree that a really sweet dessert should be accompanied with a really sweet wine. The venison dish was the best venison dish that I've ever had and the lamb was almost perfect to.

If we're ever in Christchurch we'll definitely go back.

“Amazing meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2014

Fantastic meal, defiantly up there with the best French i have eaten and i eat everywhere around the world travelling for work. Had the Beef Fillet "en croûte de sel" and it was delicious. The meats was so tender and cooked to perfection and all of the vegetables where done beautifully. Will definitely be going back here next time I'm in Christchurch.
