we ended up only saying one night at Lilac Rose due to a dates mix up on my part, which was a real shame because Pam and Denis were lovely hosts, our room with french windows into the garden was great, breakfast was top drawer, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other travellers

We had the opportunity of staying in the Garden and Mulberry rooms both of which are fitted out to a high standard. the garden room has a private bathroom and views of the garden, as the name suggests, whereas the mulberry room has an en suite but is not quite so 'light and airy' but not a problem as hopefully you would be out sightseeing so take your pick! It is difficult to find any thing different to say that hasn't been said before on the excellent friendly service offered at Lilac Rose. We were impressed with Denis' culinary skills ,that said he and Pam are a great team. Highly recommended.

A party of 4 (aged 25,28, 50 and 50) would like to recommend and share 3 dot points each from their brilliant 3 night stay:
- the amazing beauty care products in the bathroom
- cleanliness, decor and presentation superb
- Denis' homemade tomato sauce
- good coffee machine
- breakfast food selection top notch
- Loved the Roses in the garden
- the hot tub in the gazebo is great late night/early morning
- bed/bedding to die for
- easy 5 minute drive to city
- Dennis' knowledge of the local area
- Loved the homely atmosphere
- Wanted to take Maddie the golden retriever back to Australia after being allowed to take her for a walk

I can say without hesitation that the Lilac Rose B&B is one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed in; your perfect home away from home. My wife and I only stayed one night but Pam and Dennis were fantastic hosts. The breakfast menu was great and Pam's homemade muffins were to die for. Situated about 2km from Christchurch's town centre, Pam was able to give us plenty of local knowledge to make our short stay a memorable one. The Indian restaurant 5 minutes walk away was one of the best outside of the UK!

A fantastic B&B with extremely nice hosts. We stayed in the maroon or crimson room and it was great--very quiet with a nice large bathroom with everything you would need. The breakfast was delicious and Pam & Dennis were fun to chat with. Christchurch was fascinating to see with all of the reconstruction still going on in the downtown.

We stayed here after 3 weeks in a camper touring NZ. Hosts Pam and Denis were very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms are beautiful as are the gardens and very peaceful to relax and read a book in. We stayed in the Mulberry room with a lovely freestanding bath and nice touches such as candles and matches. Breakfast was varied and tasty. It was a very nice end to our trip and we were sad to leave. There is also a wonderful Golden Retriever Maddie who was so friendly and always up for a play!

We enjoyed staying at the cosy B&B, the house is beautifully decorated and Pam and Dennis are very hospitable - including their great dog. We got lots of helpful tipps on what to do in the city and loved the breakfast menu. You have to try the Eggs Benedict.
