Stayed here for two nights in July. The hotel rooms are very tired but not too many options in the city. Although the rooms are large. The hotel has just opened twenty new units at the rear of the hotel. The staff really do try hard to please. The dining area is quite small so at times could be necessary to book a table for dinner. Even though have stayed here a few times, the Wi-Fi can be difficult to connect to. The dessert menu could do with a spruce up with items like deep fried liquorice ice cream, although the rest of the menu is more than adequate.

Room Tip: The hotel has just built 20 new units, so possibly try and get one of these when booking.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review.

Hot water is an important part of any hotel experience and I apologise that we did not meet you expectations on this occasion. I am pleased to be able to advise however that the hot water issue you experienced was the result of a mechanical failure that has since been repaired.

Stayed there for 1 night, the hotel has free shuttle from and to the aiport, very convenient for short business stay.
Rooms are very clean and spacious although a bit outdated. There are some renovated rooms so I am sure it well exceeds the standard ones which were already good.
Staff is very efficient and friendly.
Dinner at the restaurant was just okay, if you have time, it would be better to go out and head nearer to the city.

We only stayed at this hotel for 1 night and wished to stay longer. Arrived at 1am and was greeted and personally taken to our room by reception. Very spacious room for 2 adults and one child. Amenities were clean and modern. Room heating was turned on before our arrival which was an added bonus. Had breakfast at the restaurant good. Staff at reception very friendly and a wealth of knowledge to assist us with our travels. Even assisted carrying our bags to our car! Will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

We stayed here on our last night before departing New Zealand for an international flight. The service was good. They offered us two welcome drinks upon arrival. We arrived around 7pm after our train trip. The restaurant was too busy to welcome us. We didn't book a table before arriving, as we didn't know this was necessary. There are no other dining options around the hotel. As we had an early flight the next morning, we stayed in our room for the night. We could hear kids running up and down the hallway. We could hear the family next door to us. And we could hear the group in the room above us partying until 1230am. We notified reception twice regarding the room above us and twice they dealt with the situation. However we would not recommend this establishment on the basis that the walls are too thin and not sound proof. We only had 3.5 hours sleep that night, which in my opinion is hardly worth the room rate $215.

Room Tip: Rooms not sound proof. Not recommended before an early flight.

Thank you for your comments:

I apologise that you were disturbed by other guests in the hotel. Our walls are 8 inches of solid concrete so disturbance from other guests is an unusual occurrence, however on this occasion it would appear that there were a particularly loud group that needed to be better managed on our part. Something we will address with our Duty Managers.

Our restaurant is particularly popular in the evening which can make obtaining a table without a reservation difficult between 7 and 8.30pm, however room service is available 24 hours a day or a meal in our lounge is always available. Alternatively there are a number of restaurants located a short distance from the hotel and our friendly guest services team are available 24 hours to help you find a suitable dining option.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly should you wish to discuss your concerns further.

This is the second time my wife and I have celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Commodore and enjoyed the hospitality and warmth of a great hotel and an excellent staff team who have made our stay on both occasions very memorable. The staff are professional with genuine warmth, friendly without being unduly familiar. The restaurant had a new menu this year and we enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal and evening. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone with confidence. Looking forward to coming again in 2014.
Kind regards, John and Karen Cadigan.

We stayed in this hotel for one night after a holiday in Indonesia.
And I cannot give anything else than praise.
From reception to the porter to the breakfast ,excellent.
We had booked a premier king room in the new part of the hotel.
We got upgraded to a suite [which was a lovely surprise after a very stressful flight] and the suite is superb. We highly recommend this hotel.
Will definetely go back.

My family and I would highly recommend this hotel. We booked a night early as to go into the room as we had an early arrival, 5am. And with 2 small kids it was to bed straight away for us. We had an early breakfast and had a wonderful uninterrupted sleep until midday. It was very very quite. The room was very large and for a family of 4 it was fantastic. When we arrived the welcome from the personal hotel airport pick up to the room key hand over was very professional. They have a great pool and spa. The kids loved it. The restaurant was very good and was well equipped for families and business people. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom was a decent size. We will be highly recommending this to friends family and our travel agent....Qantas.
