“Good as a stop over”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

The 24 hour check in is quite convenient as our flight didn't arrive until 11:30pm. It is just a short drive up the road from the airport. I thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was however. When we went to check out they didn't have our room service charge on the bill, which wasn't very much, so the staff member said not to worry about it as they had forgotten to put it to our room, it was on the house. However several days later they found it and charged it anyway. A bit unprofessional I thought. The rooms are clean with 2 double beds so if you want to sleep in the same bed it is a bit small. It is convenient if you are travelling first thing the next day as it is close to the highways so you miss the Christchurch traffic.

Some one was knocking on our door at 9:30am in the morning. With the time difference and the late check in it was quite annoying when you are still asleep. I think they had the wrong room.

Room Tip: If you are a couple make sure you ask for at least a Queen size bed.

Was upgraded to a suite on arrival. Stunning room. Very happy. Concerned about noise of the airport nearby but was not an issue at all. If anything the room was a little too big for me. The bed was great and really comfortable. I didn't use any of the hotels facilities so can't comment further.

Would have to be the top place to stay in Christchurch. Great location, plenty of parking, close to airport, friendly and helpful staff, free shuttle to airport, nice modern rooms, along with a excellent restaurant.

Room Tip: I believe all rooms, are very good. Our room was ideal for our family, as it had a family set up.Two...

Stayed here for two nights in July. The hotel rooms are very tired but not too many options in the city. Although the rooms are large. The hotel has just opened twenty new units at the rear of the hotel. The staff really do try hard to please. The dining area is quite small so at times could be necessary to book a table for dinner. Even though have stayed here a few times, the Wi-Fi can be difficult to connect to. The dessert menu could do with a spruce up with items like deep fried liquorice ice cream, although the rest of the menu is more than adequate.

Room Tip: The hotel has just built 20 new units, so possibly try and get one of these when booking.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review.

Hot water is an important part of any hotel experience and I apologise that we did not meet you expectations on this occasion. I am pleased to be able to advise however that the hot water issue you experienced was the result of a mechanical failure that has since been repaired.

Stayed there for 1 night, the hotel has free shuttle from and to the aiport, very convenient for short business stay.
Rooms are very clean and spacious although a bit outdated. There are some renovated rooms so I am sure it well exceeds the standard ones which were already good.
Staff is very efficient and friendly.
Dinner at the restaurant was just okay, if you have time, it would be better to go out and head nearer to the city.

We only stayed at this hotel for 1 night and wished to stay longer. Arrived at 1am and was greeted and personally taken to our room by reception. Very spacious room for 2 adults and one child. Amenities were clean and modern. Room heating was turned on before our arrival which was an added bonus. Had breakfast at the restaurant good. Staff at reception very friendly and a wealth of knowledge to assist us with our travels. Even assisted carrying our bags to our car! Will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

We stayed here on our last night before departing New Zealand for an international flight. The service was good. They offered us two welcome drinks upon arrival. We arrived around 7pm after our train trip. The restaurant was too busy to welcome us. We didn't book a table before arriving, as we didn't know this was necessary. There are no other dining options around the hotel. As we had an early flight the next morning, we stayed in our room for the night. We could hear kids running up and down the hallway. We could hear the family next door to us. And we could hear the group in the room above us partying until 1230am. We notified reception twice regarding the room above us and twice they dealt with the situation. However we would not recommend this establishment on the basis that the walls are too thin and not sound proof. We only had 3.5 hours sleep that night, which in my opinion is hardly worth the room rate $215.

Room Tip: Rooms not sound proof. Not recommended before an early flight.

Thank you for your comments:

I apologise that you were disturbed by other guests in the hotel. Our walls are 8 inches of solid concrete so disturbance from other guests is an unusual occurrence, however on this occasion it would appear that there were a particularly loud group that needed to be better managed on our part. Something we will address with our Duty Managers.

Our restaurant is particularly popular in the evening which can make obtaining a table without a reservation difficult between 7 and 8.30pm, however room service is available 24 hours a day or a meal in our lounge is always available. Alternatively there are a number of restaurants located a short distance from the hotel and our friendly guest services team are available 24 hours to help you find a suitable dining option.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly should you wish to discuss your concerns further.
