All we needed for a one night stay. Great welcome, well equipped (and spacious) rooms and conveniently located for (what used to be) Christchurch centre. And that is the problem, the motel is great but sadly it will be some time before Christchurch is back as a thriving tourist destination. The devastation from the earthquake is far greater than we had expected from the tourist books and websites we'd seen.

The motel provides everything you need for one night in Christchurch. We used the motel having flown in from Singapore prior to our tour of the South Island.
The memory we will take away from our short stay in Christchurch will always be the devastation the earth quake created in 2011.
The city appears to be struggling to regain its former self which is disconcerting for the residents of what once was a fine city.
That said the owner of the City Central goes over and above what one would expect to make you feel welcome providing helpful advice and guidance relating to his wonderful country.

My wife and I were travelling around New Zealand and needed somewhere to stay in Christchurch on arrival and departure. The City Central Motel Apartments were spacious, incredibly clean and well appointed.

The location is perfectly fine if you don't mind walking a kilometre or two there is plenty to see and do. There is good food and coffee extremely close (Beat Street is funky and fine). At the time of writing Christchurch is still recovering from the earthquake 2 years ago, but it remains a fine city, and well worth a day or two of your time.

At the time of writing, wifi was free and stable.

Being in the centre of town, the noise is inevitable ... and not at all overwhelming, especially if you keep the windows closed at the front.

The owner bent over backwards to help us out and as it turned out, it was a perfect place to start and end our trip.

Room Tip: We had a lot of baggage and were grateful for a ground floor apartment.

We finished up our one month tour of NZ in Christchurch and our travel agent had booked us into this motel for 2 nights. Accommodation is a bit basic but clean and well maintained. We didn't like the fact that we were on the second level with floor to ceiling windows affording very little privacy with other guests constantly walking by. However, you can keep the curtains closed.
We were given a map on arrival - too bad that it did not indicate the Red Zone. It took us close to an hour of walking to get home from our restaurant the first night because we had to keep going out of our way. Everywhere we wanted to go such as the museum, the Botanic Gardens, etc. was on the west side of the Zone - you have to factor in at least a 25 minute walk each way from the motel. The i-site does have tourist maps with the Red Zone indicated but again you will have to walk over to the west side to get them. Not much help from Chris at the motel - he didn't seem to understand that we didn't have a car. On the other hand, he did let us leave our bags in the office until the afternoon of our departure and some of his restaurant suggestions were good. Pomeroy's on Kilmore is a great pub and has very nice food. Overall, we were glad to have stayed in Christchurch and have a lot of admiration for the resilience of its citizens.

We stayed at at the City Central Motel Apartments from 1 March for two nights in a two bedroom apartment: Apartment 27.

We have been touring New Zealand for the last 5 weeks and this was the best motel we have so far stayed at.

The welcome we received was fantastic. Relaxed, friendly, helped us with our bags, sorted out a couple of minor problems we had nothing was too much trouble for them. They made us feel welcome and special, which is what good customer service is all about.

The apartment was brilliant. Large, lots of room, modern, really nicely decorated and furnished. Superbly equipped everything we needed. Full well equipped kitchen, we wanted to self cater, great washing machine and dryer. Sky TV plus DVD which we made good use of. Nice bathroom and very comfortable large bed.

One other reviewer complained about the internet; we used it to Skype, run a blog and download photos and video onto Flickr with little problem. It was also very reasonably priced compared to other places we have stayed at.

The reception staff recommended a one hour bus tour of the downtown area of the city hit by the earthquake. Not the sort of thing we would normally do but so glad we did. Very informative, gave you a real feeling of what happened during the quake, the extensive damage caused and the new plans for the city centre. Well worth the $29 cost.

Room Tip: Apartment 27, two bedroom apartment fantastic.

We booked this through the Internet after checking out the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were very impressed. Taxi driver knew it before we gave the full address. Room good size, well equipped kitchen and nice clean bathroom. Laundry facilities on ground floor, clean and easy to use. Very relaxed atmosphere. The owners were lovely and organised pick up for the train and kept a room for our return to Christchurch. Easy walk to city centre and will be even easier once more of the CBD is opened up after the earthquake. Easy walk to supermarket, cafes and restaurants. Lots of choice on TV ( best we've had so far on our trip). On a busy intersection, but the double glazing keeps the noise out very well.

Room Tip: Room upstairs looking on to the deck area gets most shade.

While I checked in my children accidentally locked my car keys in the car. It was no hassle at all for Chris from CCmotel to help me out and organise for the AA to come out.
The rooms were spacious and very clean with good equipment for self catering.
As a family of 4 we were given 2 rooms with a connecting door.
Easy walking distance to city centre.
Very happy and would highly recommend.
