Ive stayed here a couple of times as its very close for access to both St Georges and Christchurch Hospitals. There is a lot to select on Papanui Road, so there are a few others to consider.
The last time is tayed i had a room in the main complex that had a door that struggled to close - result is that it opened during the night so lucky i had the chain on. I guess that this is a legacy of the Quake. But in this case there can be a lot of hallway light coming in even when the door is closed.
The rooms are fine and very comfortable. The Bathrooms I do struggle with as there is an unfrosted window that sits in front of the wash basin/mirror. So the blinds are always down.
Internet is $15 per day. From an Oz perspective its ok, but i still think no one should have to pay for internet in any Hotel.
Didnt eat in the Restaurant, but the menu looks good. However its not too far to some good quality restaurants and pubs.
Overall it ticks the boxes. I didnt have to park so cant comment.
Its not the Millennium or Heritage or Crowne Plaza. (all gone) But in the scope of my needs in CHCH it is a good quality Hotel that i feel comfortable in.

Room Tip: Most rooms i have had have had a Queen AND a single Bed. If you are on the ground floor many rooms have a lot of Windows so be prepared for strangers waling past.

Thank you for your review. From the comments you have made I think the next time you stay you may be more comfortable in either E wing in our standard rooms (which will take away many of the comments you have made), or perhaps paying a little more for a Superior or Executive room - if you mention this review next time you book we may be able to upgrade you free of charge if we have availability so that you can see the difference. With regards to WIFI you will be pleased to know that from 1 September 2014 we will be having free WIFI. Look forward to your next stay with us and really appreciate your feedback.

With the layout of the rooms (motel style) on two stories one can't park near one's room at all, plus they only provide 20mins wifi which can only be used by one device (or charge $15) which is damned expensive. For the cost of rooms overall this place is not good value

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback. It is unfortunate that you seemed to stay on a night where parking was limited. We do have ample parking and it is free of charge. It may not always be available directly outside your room however it should not be far from it. It is a luxury for a hotel to have FREE car parking and we are one of the few. Our WIFI charges are currently under revision.

The room was pretty dated and quite cramped as it had two beds crammed into the room. The bed was comfortable and it was located close to the city centre. It had a bar and offered a standard fare for breakfast.

We appreciate you writing a review on your stay. I am glad you enjoyed the comfort of our beds. We have many different room configurations and had you asked we would of been able to move you to a room with only one bed (its easy to resolve problems we are aware of in most cases). We do hope to see you back again soon.

I went to this hotel for business purpose last year. The staff were friendly and responsive to our requests. We did a group checked in 7-8 people and they handled our luggage quickly and none of our luggage was swapped. The room was clean and comfortable enough for two people. However, the heater did not work very well. The hotel served standard breakfast, coffee, tea, cereal, fruits and ham and sausage but you can also order from the menu.

Just had one night while passing thru, room was ok, but of a pain lugging suitcases up external stairs in the wet, car parking was tight glad our rental car was small. Didn't have a very good sleep, bed linen wasn't that great and kept slipping off all night. The room had a heater wired into the wall but the switch got very hot when needed to turn it off. Bathroom was a bit dated and very cold, had to shower etc with door open so warmth from the room heater could be felt in bathroom. The previous guests pubic hair in the bath wasn't the prettiest sight to see either.
Front desk staff were friendly, and location was ok. To be honest though, if I was to return to Chch anytime soon I won't be staying here.

Its always good to receive feedback of any kind, as we are all different there is always a variety of opinions on what is perceived to be the "right for the right fit". We do have a porter here and offer this service so it is surprising you had to carry your own luggage. With regards to the heater - our Duty Manager clearly remembers you on check out and had bought up the issue of the heater on the phone with maintenance whilst you were checking out. We investigated this issue and it was a faulty switch which was rectified immediately. Our bathrooms throughout the hotel are being updated at this time. The cleanliness of our rooms are outstanding as you will see from many reviews on Trip Advisor and Qualmark top rating for cleanliness. Its pleasing you enjoyed our front desk staff and the location.
