I attended a wedding 22nd December and was in Christchurch for one night only. wish it was longer. Booked last minute at Chateau. clearly it had seen better days but still did the job and was quite comfortable. My room was quite a way from reception. After reception did not see any staff. Fridge had no nibbles or minibar stuff! I made a coffee or two. could have done with a few more teabags etc and some real milkOverall pretty happy BUT for the TV which was out of the ark and I have seen ones like this not even picked up from inorganic collections! Really! And could only get one channel and two fuzzy ones. I love my TV so wasnt happy about that.

Room Tip: long walk from reception to some rooms

Stayed here on route to airport, very dated decor especially the bar. Struggled to find entrance due to the rebuild and signposting not great.
New restaurant nice but everything else needs bringing up to same standard.

This was a really nice, centrally located hotel. You can walk to the Botanical Gardens, to the container town, and to several other attractions, including up and down Riccarton Street for a huge assortment of stores and restaurants. The room was clean and large. The breakfast buffet offered a large assortment of both hot and cold foods and fruits. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was delicious. They also have a beautiful garden with loads of flowers in bloom. The front desk staff was knowledgeable and helpful.

Good hotel near the airport. Not a fancy one but has all the necessary requirements for a nice and warm stay.

We started our honeymoon by staying here and spend around 2 nights. Did not have a chance to try the restaurant food so no suggestions on that.

Love the garden area. We spent a lot of time just relaxing there and reading books

The people at Chateau on the Park were lovely, and the place is absolutely immaculate. Our room was average size, and the bathrooms were a bit dated. Breakfasts were generous and good quality. Service for dinner for our large party of 12 was slow. Chateau, as well as the rest of the city is still recovering from the earthquakes and there is much yet to be done. When we were there, a lobby feature, a canal that I am told used to contain beautiful plants, was empty of plants and still had about 8" of uncirculated water in the bottom. Not a pleasant element. The workmen were still re-building the pool. Maybe next year will be a better year for them.

The biggest positive for those whom it matters is the free internet for the duration of your stay in your room. The hotel is under re-construction from the massive earthquakes the city experienced 2 years ago but it never shows. It is located about 10 mins drive from all good restaurants and malls. It has lush green gardens with biggest roses you will ever see. Friendly staff. Newspaper in room every morning for no charge.

Room Tip: Don't spend too much for a balcony room. The view from the other rooms is equally good.

We stayed here in November 2012 for my brothers 60th birthday from New Plymouth for one night, service was terrible at the front reception and the bar areas did not talk to the reception, in fact they complained about the reception not being helpful. We wanted to charge our drinks to the room they took an extra amount out at check in of our eftpos due to not having a credit card which we thought would cover any costs incurred yet on 3 occasions they asked me for my credit card which I explained what we had done. On the 3rd occasion which was in front of guests we had, we said we wanted to talk to the manager/duty manager. Well we went to reception asked for the duty manager who was the food and beverage manager, he came out and I started to tell him what happened to us, he was not interested and kept saying this is our policy like a recording. I asked where is the customer service in this hotel and he stayed focused on the policy. So absolutely no thought for the customer he didn't even attempt to help me in any way.
Not happy with dated décor and price we paid, will not return - unfortunate as this could have been resolved in a far better way
