Stayed two nights at this motel and Bruce the Manager could not have been more helpful with advise and places to visit.
They also provided transport to the train that we were catching to continue our trip.
We stayed in an upstairs King studio.. plenty of room, with a kitchen.
Across the road from the Christchurch Botanical Gardens and a short walk to eateries and the city.
A little dated but very clean and comfortable... excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Top floor corner suites is large and sunny.

We spent 2 nights here and have no complaints at all. As another person has mentioned maybe the bathroom and toilet is small but totally adequate for short stays.

Staff excellent and helpful.

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We found the 'continental' breakfasts convenient and not bad value for money. Also the "Running Bull" just round the corner in Riccarton Road provide more than enough to eat if you go for the shared roast lamb.

Flew into Christchurch and driving to Hokatika next day. Hotel is a bit dated in decor and fittings but everything worked well and it met our expectations. Its location meant our shopping for trip supplies was easy. Closeness to the park allowed for a great walk before having dinner at a near by venue. All in all a goog experience.

Room Tip: Maybe the definition of a suite is a little generous however we slept in the bedroom instead of the big bed in the main room.

We were a group of 6 golfers who took 2 rooms. The place is in a great location. We could hear boy racers on the Saturday night so if you were a light sleeper that would likley upset you. The beds were really comfortable. Sure it is dated but it was clean and good value. The shower was not very good at all pressure wise but that was the only real negative. There is a nice cafe aroung the corner and up Riccarton road called Cafe Sismo - the first one you come to after the railway line - on the left hand side. The food was good and the service exceptional.

My family and I stayed here for one night after a late flight into Christchurch. The room was great for us. The service went above and beyond to accommodate our late arrival. The staff made it easy for us to just walk right up to our room without us having to check in. Highly recommend to any traveller.
