Newley refurbished and nice sized room very comfortable. Shuttle to airport excellent departs every 30 min and 30 min journey in no traffic. Only 2 things let the hotel down for us, 1. The air con was very noisy even when switched off leading to a disturbed nights sleep. 2. Wifi- I don't understand why a hotel like this charges so much when motels down the road offer complimentary wifi.

Great location if all you need is a bed close to the airport. Be warned there are NO restaurants near by apart from in the hotel which is also like the rooms very over priced. Couldnt even get a panadol from the front desk when advising them of a serious miagraine - Thanks!
The delux rooms are clean, tidy, and spacious. The upstairs plumbing sounds like a freight train coming through the wall at you, the bathroom was clearly not maintained by a professional.
The do offer room service, an airport shuttle, although it is only a 5 minute walk and newspapers so its not all bad. Its just a shame that hotels likes this charge what they do. They are also missing a few of those good ol kiwis that offer great front desk service - the staff look tired, bored, and like they would rather be somewhere else. Shame really.

Not many 'airport' hotels are as close to the airport as this one - they provide a shuttle to the terminal building, but you could actually walk it!
The hotel itself is a bit tired. The reception is busy and functional, but not welcoming. The rooms are a little on the small side and in need of a refurb. The restaurant is odd, as it seems to double as a thoroughfare to some of the rooms - so whilst you are sitting and eating your meal you watch guests struggling by with their baggage!
But equally bizarre was the fire alarm going off at 2 am. Everyone vacated to the car park, and being just 2 weeks after the second Christchurch quake, there was some anxiety. But after the Fire Dept turned up and checked things out we learned it was a false alarm - hardly worth going back to bed with an early flight to catch. Curiously, another guest said it was the second time he had stayed there, and on the previous occasion there had been a false fire alarm in the middle of the night!
The price was reasonable and check-out efficient. So despite the negatives the hotel served its purpose.

Given the shortage of hotel beds in Christchurch at the moment, you could do much worse than the Sudima, especially if you are just passing through for one or two nights.

The hotel is very close to the airport, either a short walk or complimentary pick-up. I found my garden-facing room surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the airport, but street-facing rooms would be more noisy. It is right next door to the Antarctic Centre, which is well worth a visit. Friendly staff add to the experience.

The room and bathroom were moderately sized and clean, but everything looked a bit tired and in need of an upgrade - especially the appliances. I would expect a premium room to have more than a small CRT television with hardly any channels. The lighting was also appalling, with only lamps or bulkhead lights in the main room - there was only one chair in the room where I could read comfortably at night. The bed was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: Stay away from street-side rooms

We arrive at the airport at 9.30pm ,after collecting the luggage used the adjacent free phone for Sudima and asked to be collected for free transfer to the hotel..
By the time we had walked out of the airport the transfer van was waiting for us, help with luggage was forthcoming, check in was smooth and the room was clean and comfortable. We chose a room priced at $160NZ.
We ordered a meal at the restaurant, the food was first class and well presented.Breakfast next morning had a large selection.
We hired a car for the next day decided to walk back to the airport about 5 minutes away to collect it, as the hotel shuttle was going to the airport chose to get a lift instead , collected the car then back to the hotel for the luggage.
A week later we did the reverse. On the morning of our 5.45 am flight the shuttle was there to take us back to the airport.
Yes we would stay there again and recommend it to others.

It is within 5 mins walking distance from the airport and within 2 mins walking distance to International Antarctic centre, where you can easily pass an hour or two! The shuttle service they provide to and from the airport is impressive! We called them from one of the free phones at the baggage claim area on the airport (ext. 27) and the shuttle arrived in minutes! Besides the great location for transit, it has quite spacious , well appointed and extremely clean rooms. Staff is very friendly and smooth sailing The internet facility was great and one of the cheapest we found in NZ, just $1 for 10 mins! It will tick all your boxes- staff, service, transfer facilities, good rooms and nice shower!
Down side- Food is average and not worth the price it is charged. Portions are average sized and overall we found food to be expensive.
Bottom line - For the overall value and convenience, i would highly recommend it if you are transiting. We'll sure be back!

We wanted to check our flights for the next morning so ended up just strolling across the road to the airport. Upgraded to a premium room for only $12- I'd pay again for the space and that little hint of luxury. The only problems I can think of were that 1) when we opened our door it smelt like smoke (in a non-smoking wing) and 2) we were about the leave NZ!

Room Tip: Its your last night in NZ- pay that extra $12 to upgrade, its worth it!
