“The Best of the Best”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

We just left this wonderful B&B after spending three nights with Ann and Harold. We stayed in the Eliza room which was very large and extremely comfortable. Special treats were the homemade cookies and water, wine, and beer provided in our frig. Ann shared good recommendations for evening meals. The hearty breakfast kept us full from morning until evening. Do not miss the best Eggs Benedict we have ever tasted! There are many other options for a cooked breakfast as well. This was our last stop on a monthlong visit to New Zealand and the best accommodations we had. The convenience to town was a huge plus as we walked everywhere. We highly recommend this fabulous manor house, full of character and charm!

Room Tip: There is not a swimming pool or fitness room but you do not need one!!

The location of this restored House built in the 1860s is ideal for exploring Christchurch on foot but easy to drive to from the airport or other parts of the South Island.
The hosts Ann & Harry were very welcoming and gave us local information that really helped us to see the City and to understand what had happened in the earthquakes & also the tremendous efforts at rebuilding & repairing the damage since 2010/2011.
Room was very comfortable & spacious with lots of little thoughtful extras.
Breakfast was excellent, great choice freshly cooked and loads of it!

We absolutely loved this manor and the owner Ann was a very attentive host! She pays attention to every detail and even sends you away with a special gift at the end of your stay ( I will let the gift be a surprise)! You will arrive to cookies, chocolate, and tea/coffee in your room. Also, breakfast was absolutely delicious--they offer hot and cold breakfast options. This is a must stay that is centrally located--only a short walk away from the city center, botanic gardens, and plenty of restaurants! Free parking and wifi as well. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We loved the bulter room on the ground floor!

We booked on basis of overwhelmingly positive reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. Ann in particular made the stay most welcoming and helpful. Wonderfully
appointed Heritage room with balance of old world charm (recently refurbished after earthquake devastation) and modern bathroom amenities. Great location in reasonable walking distance from central Christchurch and walking distance from a variety of restaurants.

Tip: if you want a good coffee or snack during the day, as you walk out of hotel and 100m to right is a terrific cafe on the corner. Excellent coffee.

Such a lovely welcome on a wet and windy night. Lovely comfortable room with plenty of space. Ann helped us find a restaurant on what was a busy Saturday night and she gave us excellent advice about what to see in one morning in Christchurch. The biscuits were a treat.
Breakfast was excellent. Altogether a great stay.

Traveling alone throughout New Zealand, I was especially appreciative when I stayed at a B & B, and the proprietor took such excellent care of me. Ann and Harold were FANTASTIC. Any issue, problem, need, was attended to, and executed with a willingness and hospitality that I have never experienced before.

The B& B itself is wonderful, old (completely redone since the earthquake), the location great, the breakfasts were EXCELLENT....

What more could you ask in a place to stay, after a long day of traveling and needing to be nurtured?

Eliza's Manor Boutique Hotel is THE place to stay when in Christchurch, New Zealand!

We were early for our check-in time, but Ann and Harold immediately made us feel welcome. Ann provided a great map and was very helpful in planning our time. Our "Eliza" room was very spacious with a beautiful bay window -- and we both appreciated the homemade Anzac cookies!

Even though our departure the next morning was early, Ann provided one of the best breakfasts that we had in New Zealand -- excellent!

Despite our early departure, Ann and Harold were in the driveway and presented a small teddy bear, pen and notepad from Eliza's Manor. .. A charming gesture. We definitely would recommend staying here. Warm and inviting!

Room Tip: Go for the Eliza Room if it is available!
