Hagley Park Motel is situated in a great centralized location. It's 15 minutes from Christchurch airport, 2 blocks from beautiful Hagley Park in the Riccarton area. Shopping and dining is located
within walking distance on Riccarton Road.
The motel is a bit older but well maintained. Our room was more of an apartment with a full kitchen and washing machine (no dryer). There is a laundry room in the complex. The apartment was clean and there was extra pillows and blankets.
The new owner greeted us. He was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay there.

Special note: many hotels and other businesses in Christchurch were ravaged by an earthquake a couple of years ago and are undergoing construction. Don't book at a hotel in the midst of it. Hagley Park Motel was away from all the construction.

9pm - I just rung to enquire about costs blah blah blah for Feb 2015 and the Old Fela replied, so what is on at that time? ME - its the Matatini Kapa Haka Nationals! O.F - Oh no we wont be taking bookings that early cause we dont know what our costs would be then, ME - The change of cost is not a worry lol! i just would like to book a room, O.F - Oh no we wont be doing that......ME, so when do u think u would be taking bookings? O.F - at least 6 months b4, ME - Truely! people would be looking at booking accommodation at least 1yr before, OF - well they wont be booking here he zed, thank you goodbye.... and he hung up on me. I was absolutely blown away from his rudeness remark. Matatini Committee have chosen to hold this wonderful talented event down CHCH so we people can help rebuild the city again, even thou our little Rotorua city donated 1 million dollars from our kapahaka fundraiser back in 2011 we would like to support again. All i wanted was to make a booking, cost dont bother me but finding a close accommodation withn walking distance to the venue for some off our Kaumatua ( Elderly ) does, what a dame shame cause one rude statement can be a huge loss to yr bussiness.

Spent two nights here each side of a Tranzalpine train trip with an overnight in Arthur's Pass. Room was spacious and clean, had a kitchenette where you can cook, and there was also a washing machine in the unit. Close to train station (5 mins in taxi) and about 15 mins to airport in a taxi.

Walking distance to eateries and a big service station that sells snacks and sundry items.

Everything was clean, and the owner was friendly and welcoming. I'd stay here again, good value at $115 per night.

Very bad experience and very unhelpful and not considerate lady.

The room stunk of terrible smells which when we left the manager said that she was very aware of but no apology came forth. Instead she just complained about the people who had been there prior to us that had left the

Lots of fixtures were not going.

Worst motel experience ever. Very mean!!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here

We arrived on the Friday afternoon for the weekend - without having made a booking, with 6 of us in tow: Members of a youth football team based in Auckland. Gail met us at the office and from the first moment made us all feel welcome and comfortable and, in spite of the squeeze upon available accommodation in Christchurch, brought about a solution. Hagley Park Motel was the 4th, visited and while all venues were sorry they had no available accommodation, what impressed about Gail & Murray's hospitality was the sense of apparent calm and ease they generate and instill. I need to reinforce here I am a tough customer and expect a very high standard: Locally and internationally. The rooms we took for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights were astoundingly clean, polished and secure & when we returned from each day of play it was a welcome retreat for all. Gail and Murray went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay a successful one and I am delighted to write this review with absolute confidence. Hospitality is a complex industry - aside from the pleasure and security felt during our stay, it's a great feeling to know there are operators representing Christchurch in ways that will sustain tourist and visitor revenue for the region with that wonderful and endearing currency: Professionalism and warmth.

Room Tip: We [by luck] had a room adjacent to the parking area and street access, which assisted us, but also...

I Know business has been tough in Christchurch over the last 12 months but come on a little paint touch up wouldnt go a miss. The rooms are very shabby with even having and old smell about them. Shower with a shower-curtain is a real no-no especially in that small confined space, couch hasnt been moved for some time as there was a thick build-up of dust against the wall.
Worst of all after a sleepless night of earthquakes ranging from low 4s to high 5s the owner rang at 10.05am and demanded that payment be made immediatley so she could close her office. When going to the Office there was no inquirey as to how we all were after the night of shaking even though we had a child with us. NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN...

Room Tip: Choose none. Go some where else and stay.
