“Great stay, very happy”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

Used this motel for a one night stay in Christchurch. We checked in a little later than we had arranged - our host didn't bat an eyelid. He was welcoming and friendly on a dark, stormy night. Room was huge with everything we needed, and very clean. Great location and easy to find. I thought the value for money was pretty good considering what else was on offer for the same price.

There are many, many choices for lodging near the Apollo Motel, yet we were highly satisfied with our decision to trust the TripAdvisor reviewers and stay there. We stayed for a night at the beginning and end of our trip, relaxed knowing that we had such a nice place to sleep and get organized before leaving NZ.

The kitchen was complete, though compact, and the bathroom warm with great towels. Both were extremely clean.

We could walk to restaurants, a Countdown supermarket, and a pharmacy. Riccarton Road is a main street connecting the outskirts (airport) and the CBD, but street noise was nil and night. The WiFi they offered was perhaps the best we had in NZ.

Diana was prompt and efficient with our booking, and some changes in our dates were handled with no hassle.

Really comfortable, clean and with a friendly service. Great value good price. Close to town center and few hundred meters walk from Riccarton mall...if you go to Christchurch dont miss it. I will be back there for shure.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a friends wedding, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment unit and this was a nice size, we didn't use the cooking facilities as we were out most of the time. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Service was great, I only booked for 2 nights instead of 3, they had no more vacancy but the owner suggested some nearby hotels, checked their availability and booked us a room for a 3rd night which was awesome and took the stress off for me!
In close walking distance to supermarket, liquor store, Westfield shopping mall and cafés and restaurants.
We had a rental car so it was a nice short drive into the city.
Location is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate staying here again :)

This is the first of 6 months I will be staying here due to my work in Christchurch. I have a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor and so far I'm happy with things.

For those arriving from the airport, this is very convenient as it is located on a busy road into town, but not a great deal of traffic noise. Riccarton is a buzzing suburb with plenty of options for eating - the added advantage of the location of the motel is it's proximity to a bus stop - a bus every 10 mins or so into town. Too far to walk for the elderly, but just about do-able for the rest of us.

Rooms cleaned daily - spotless. Furniture basic but ok. As with most NZ accommodation, storage space not good and cooking facilities very basic.

Would I stay here again? Yes.

Nicely presented with a handy location, close to the airport,as I was flying out the next morning I found it convenient to stay here, also it is close to the Bush Inn and Riccarton malls.Price was average

Service and friendliness from the nice Chinese Lady who handled my check in,no problems there.

Room was comfortable and bed was fine, shower almost drilled a hole in me but I like that.

TV is New Zealand free to air rubbish only, dont bother, watch a video instead

All in all I am happy to recommend this Motel to others who are looking for a stress free stay in Christchurch

Room Tip: there are upstairs and downstairs rooms, people with mobility issues might want to check this out bef...

Nice motel with good sized room. WE only spent a few hours here, as were flew out of Christchurch in the wee hours of the morning. But the bed was comfortable and its location was good as several eateries were within walking distance from it.

Unfortunately, the terrible weather that blew in, meant that getting to said eateries was distinctly unpleasant. Sleet blowing in at 120km/hr is really quite painful, not to mention cold and wet.

Made the heating system in the room all the more appreciated!
