We stayed here for the last night of our trip, having dropped off the camper earlier on the 16th April 2014. This guest house is only 10 minutes from the airport, but you'd really never know, it's so quiet. It's immaculately clean and beautifully presented. There's a guest lounge, stocked with tea, coffee and snacks. The landlady gave us packed breakfasts, and arranged our transport to the airport at 0330hrs, which was all like clockwork. I really can't overstate how friendly and helpful she was, so sorry I can't remember her name! We really should have had a couple of nights here, it was so lovely. Nick & Jackie

We stayed for one night during our Mainland tour.
We were very kindly upgraded to the ensuite room before we arrived which was a nice touch. We'd arrived feeling quite tired having driven from Queenstown and Gay the owner was kind enough to book us a table at a restaurant around the corner.
Very large & comfy bed with a good pillow selection.
Breakfast was served in the lovely kitchen and included toast, croissant, cereal, fruit and yoghurts along with coffee & juice. Lovely.
Thank you for a very nice stay.

Magnolia Rose was one of the best B&B's we stayed during our NZ trip. A very warm welcome and helpful tipps for visiting the city and having dinner.
The Fantail room is really nice decorated and has its own terrace. We loved it! Breakfast was very good as well.

Thanks Gay, it was really nice staying wih you our last night in NZ!

I have stayed in a lot of places in Christchurch during my travels and I have to say that Magnolia Rose is easily the nicest , as soon as you walk in you are met by the hosts Gay and Bruce who are the loveliest of people, only to happy to help with anything you need and their very easy to talk to.I stayed in the Tui room for 3 nights and found the room to be very comfortable and well appointed , the bed was very comfortable and no expense has been spared to make it nice.
At breakfast there was plenty to choose from and I found the guest lounge well appointed and pleasant.I will certainly be staying here from now on as it really does feel like a home away from home.In short I found Magnolia Rose to be "Superb"

We had booked Magnolia Rose for one night at the start of our South islands adventure and two nights at the end of it all before flying home. It was nice staying in a B & B in Christchurch and Magnolia Rose was the perfect choice. Gay was the wonderful hostess who presented us with a lovely breakfast every morning including fresh strawberries picked from her garden. My family and I loved chatting with her and it was lovely exchanging stories of our lives. That's the essence of B & B's - you get to hear and share with the locals about their life and experiences. As our flight was very early in the morning to go home, Gay baked us muffins to take with us. The rooms are decorated very beautifully and my family was very comfortable. It was a memorable stay and we will not forget our lovely hostess Gay for a long, long time. The home was lovely but the company simply the best.

From the moment we arrived, tired after a long day travelling, we were made to feel more than welcome - coffee in the kitchen with Gay and Bruce, chatting standing at the kitchen bench like friends rather than guests. The Pukeko Room was outstanding - an incredibly comfy bed, large en suite with fantastic shower, just what was needed after a day in the car. Gay even arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant, and their travel advice regarding timings from Christchurch to Picton (factoring in coffee stops) was exactly spot on! - it is the extra little touches like this that makes the Magnolia Rose B&B stand out from all the other places we've stayed. Set in a quiet neighbourhood, beautifully appointed, surrounded by gardens and birds - what more could you ask for?

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. I love to make our guests feel at home when staying with us. We also enjoyed your company.
Our chickens have grown so much since you were here. You gave us some helpful tips which weve taken on board. Next time you come down you will be able to have freerange eggs for breakfast.

At first I didn't quite know whether I was in the right place as the B&B is on a very modern, exclusive housing estate in a suburb in the north of the city. However the property works very well as a B&B. I was made very welcome by Fay and shown a delightful room with a large en suite and all the extra little touches that made it feel special. The upstairs lounge for guests was great and a useful place to relax, read or watch TV. Breakfast was super with lots of fresh produce. Fay was very helpful and I felt very much at home. Even though it is in the suburbs there are places to eat quite near by. I expect it is used by visitors in transit as it is quite near the airport but it is a very worthwhile base for a longer stay. I would highly recommend this homestay.
