“Good room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013 via mobile

Stayed here while visiting Christchurch - we had a lovely new room - I think the hotel has only recently opened after the Earthquakes - we were right in the heart of the town but it is completely flattened - almost all of the buildings have gone and there is a big reconstruction going on. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.

It would have been nice to have a breakfast area for guests but we did manage to find the hotel opposite very good.

Dear Dbell679.
Thank you for your review on Hotel 115. Yes you are right; we opened up in August but officially started running in mid-September so when you visited in October everything was still quite new and fresh! Happy to hear you enjoyed you’re stay and you liked your room.
With regards to breakfast, when you visited our partner café was still under construction but they will be opening their doors now very soon. So our guests will have the option of either continental or cooked breakfast.
Delighted to hear you enjoyed you’re stay and you liked your room. Thanking you, Sarah Niu, the General Manager.

This is a refurbished hotel since the 2011 earthquake. I understood from Chana at the Reception that they reopened in August 15 2013, just 2 months ago.

My stay was excellent. I simply could not find fault with any aspect of my stay. The room is of the right size; approximately 35sqm, absolutely clean bedroom and bathroom with modern outlook and furnitures.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi for the first 300MB. To give you an idea, that is equivalent to uploading 75 photos on Facebook, navigate with google maps and browse 225 webpages.

There is an iPod docking station by the bedside. However if you are holding onto an iPhone 5, remember to bring along a converter.

The minibar is stocked with different types of fruit juices. We had excellent hot chocolate and some fine tea provided in the coffee and tea making facilities.

Hairdryer is provided and found inside the vanity unit. There is also an iron and ironing board available. The heating facility also helped made my sleep comfortable as it was very cold outside.

Overall, the hotel has exceeded my expectation. All the receptionists were friendly and always ready to assist with recommendation of activities and booking of our departure transfer.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, Hotel 115.

Hotel 115 has reopened after the 2011 earthquake. I booked the middle of the CBD in ignorance. I thought it would be the centre but it is the centre of a war zone. If you are interested in the devastation wrought by the quake, then the CBD is a perfect spot but if you want accommodation then try a motel out the zone. 115 is stranded but surviving amidst the rebuild. It is a cute hotel and once the tram runs through it, the shops reopen and the city lives again, it will be a great spot. At the moment it is lonely. The rooms were fun and well designed – a pleasant change from the beige and browns of many rooms. I loved my turquoise chair. The glasses are beautiful and the soaps etc excellent quality. The fruit bowl in the foyer was also appreciated. If you want boutique, excellent detail and CBD then I recommend it.

Room Tip: Come if you want the quality of a high class chain but dont want the beige colours - come if you lik...

Dear Peanut Wellington.
Firstly thank you for your kind words about our rooms and décor. We do pride ourselves in keeping a certain image that is not your typical beige and white and love to hear comments like yours that the hotel is fun and well designed so thank you!
Since your stay in October I am glad to tell you that some shops & cafes have opened their doors and the tram is up and running so the city has started to become alive again but I understand how you would have felt when you stayed with us last. But do come visit us again and you can have a ride on the tram or maybe some punting on the Avon!! Thanking you, Sarah Niu, the General Manager.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It was really noisey with all the workman and we could hear the people in the next room flushing their toilet. The rooms were decorated nicely but were so small there was barely any room
To move around Once we had our 2 bags in there. The hotel concierge weren't able to recommend any restaurants and when they provided us with directions or tips for things they gave the wrong information.

Dear Carzig.
Thank you for your review of Hotel 115. Apologies about the noise when you stayed with us, there was still a lot of construction surrounding us then and we had only just opened but thankfully it has all finished. We are a boutique hotel so some our rooms are small due to being the style of the hotel. Apologies about the concierge, they have received more training since then. Your comments have been a great help and we take on board everything that you said. Thank you and apologies that your experience with us wasn't what you expected. Sarah Niu, General Manager.

Stayed here our first night back in Chch. Before leaving we arranged with desk staff to stay a month
later on our last night. Reconfirmed this new arrangment on checkout. Arrived 4 weeks later and not only was there no record of our booking, the hotel was fully booked and the guy on reception did nothing to help.

We found this Hotel when it was listed in the Accor AdvantagePlus group of Hotels and we chose this because we wanted to stay somewhere with a bit of character. It was really tricky to find the Hotel itself but the staff who directed us on the phone was really friendly and patient and had a really good sense of humour. We love the art work scattered along the corridors of every floor and the warm atmosphere in the Hotel. Staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed the Happy Hour evenings where we were encouraged to mingle with other guests, management and staff of the hotel.during our stay we received very informative advise on dining and places to visit in Christchurch. We love the fact that everything is within walking distance from the Hotel or just hop on the tram that stops right outside the hotel.
Hope the earthquake hasn't affected this hotel?

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor.

I thought this hotel was shabby, tired and the rooms were ridiculously small.....do not bring a cat....there is no room to swing one! The iron did not work, and the TV was really old and only a few channels worked. We had to ask to move rooms as the first room we were put in was like the broom cupboard which they had just shoved a bed in and called it a hotel room....it didn't even have curtains just a sheet over the window. I have no idea why so many people rate this hotel, it is really bad. Location is the only thing it has going for it. Rubbish.
