“Go by car or boat”

Either way Diamond Harbour is well worth a visit .Just 40 minutes from Christchurch City there are many picnic spots or you can visit either of the fully licensed cafes.
Great views back across the Peninsula and the outer harbour.

Choice of two cafes at the top of the hill, pleasant walking tracks, amazing views out to sea and back across the Harbour to Lyttelton.

“Diamond Harbour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

Catch the boat from Lyttelton $10 return. Nice boat trip across the harbour. Gold card holders free.
Nice trip away from the hustle and bustle. There is a cafe, library, diary. Good 10 minute walk up hill to the playground and then up the road to the wee cafe area. Great views back over Lyttelton Harbour. There is a walk from Diamond Harbour to Purau around the side of the hill to the right, takes about an hour if taking your time and stopping on the way. Not suitable for pushchairs/buggies.

“Lovely little Cafe... Perfect Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

Wonderful atmosphere, great food, huge selection of ice creams... Something to suit everyone. Fabulous Deck out the back for sunny days but not a lot of shade so sunscreen is a must.
Very friendly staff who seem to accommodate even the fussiest of customers. Weekends are very busy in the summer so if you are a group it's a good idea to book ahead. If you want a lovely mid week hide away for coffee and cakes it's the perfect place!

“harbour views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013

the whole drive from Christchurch over to Diamond Harbour is lovely. Take the scenic route over the hill or take the tunnel via Lyttelton. Unfortunately the Diamond Harbour historic homestead crumbled in the earthquakes but there are still nice dining options.
