“Excellent quality service”
Reviewed 22 June 2008

We stayed there for 4 nights and the service is excellent. The host, Sue and Steve went the extra miles to ensure our stay is enjoyable and memorable. The room is clean and the place is well managed.

It is quiet, peaceful and easily accessible to just about anywhere you wish.

I love how easy it is to get there and the many routes you can take. For any assistance, you can always count on the host.

Definitely my place the next time I am in town.

Ashleigh Court Motel exemplifies your traditional Kiwi motel. It’s basic and comfortable, and the owners are nothing but welcoming and attentive. We had Unit 8 and my husband and I shared the 2 bedroom unit with another family member. Bedrooms, bathroom and lounge were spacious and clean. Kitchen was ideal for making simple meals and coffee and tea, which is always nice when away from home. Only downside was that our unit didn’t have an oven, so if you want an oven ask for a unit with one. Large floor plan is ideal for family. Trampoline and swings are onsite, which are a huge hit with the children. Grounds are nice. Location is great! We walked around Mona Vale and the park each morning for our morning walk. This is a quiet gem of a hotel in a very nice area of Christchurch. We will definitely stay at Ashleigh Court when we go back to Christchurch. Kudos to the owners for their hospitality and high standards!

My wife and I have stayed at the Ashleigh Court Motel on a number of occasions.
The Hosts Sue and Steve always make us feel welcome; it’s like staying with old friends.
These would have to be the quietest motels we have ever stayed at. If you want a good night’s sleep then this is definitely the motel for you, huge beds and comfortable pillows. (When we travel in Australia I normally take my pillow from home, I am a bit fussy in that department).
Wireless internet is available which is great for checking emails etc.
Units are well equipped with ample supplies of Tea & Coffee and even a choice of milk.
Great shower with excellent water pressure. (I’m fussy about that too)

This motel might look a little dated in the photos, but don't let that keep you away. It was clean and in a residential neighborhood, so quiet and welcoming. Parking right outside the door makes life and luggage easy. An actual king sized bed was glorious -- our first after 2.5 weeks in NZ. A good-sized room, well equipped -- and with accessible electrical outlets for recharging camera/computers, etc.

Our hosts were more than welcoming (Steve is the Kiwi version of a Smothers Brother.) As in many of the places we stayed, our hosts lived there, so had an interest in keeping everything nice.

A coupon for a local pub (walking distance) got us not only a free beer but an delightful look into local family outings for good food. Excellent burgers of lamb, and chips (fries) at Robbie's Pub and Grill, walkable from the motel. Best of all was the walk through the English style park and botanical gardens to downtown Christchurch.

Wireless internet access (paid by customer to ISP) was welcome, but since I was trying to upload to my blog every day, I would have preferred free broadband.

  • Liked — Location, near airport and within walking distance of downtown Christchurch, but still residential neighborhood.
  • Disliked — It was our last day in New Zealand. We wanted to stay longer.

Lovely centrally located motel on quiet tree lined street. As other review we found the hosts were engaging and welcoming. Our criteria was a motel who would allow our Jack Russell terrier and this was ideal, we stayed in a two bedroom unit adjacent to a small lawn. Well equipped, clean and spacious, would describe as basic rather than lavish but this is what we wanted. Close walking distance to takeaway food and dairy etc. Definitely recommend.

  • Liked — Pet friendly, quiet and very clean
  • Disliked — Slightly difficult to find, in suburban street

Clean, well run small motel within 15 minutes walk of the centre of Christchurch, run very much hands on by Sue & Steve Peters, who made us very welcome. Lots of vouchers for discount in local restaurants. Small kitchen provided if you wanted to cook. Plenty of tea and coffee available - you make this yourself. very reasonably priced. We would have liked to have stayed longer. Given the choice will use again when we visit Christchurch next.
