We have just returned from a 5 night stay in Christchurch staying at this Motel. Although a little "dated" we couldnt fault either the amenities or the service. We stayed in a two bedroom unit which was serviced daily. All amenities including a washing machine were provided. The service provided by the owners/managers Steve and Sue was exceptional. From Tourist Information, local knowledge and just a general "hello" and chat whenever we crossed paths to the very special treatment we were provided on the day we attended the NZ Cup day. Steve, knowing parking would be an issue, offered to drive us out there, drop off, then he drove our vehicle back to the Motel. That kind of service is very rare today.
We would definately stay there on return trips. Very close to City, short walk through Botanical Gardens has you in the centre of town. Very quite position with absolutely no road noise. Beautiful gardens surrounding the units.
We would recommend this accommodation to anyone who would prefer a self contained holiday unit, even with families.
Congratulations to Sue and Steve for making our holiday just that little bit better for having stayed at their establishment.

As we were totally clueless on what to expect from the accomodation that fits within our budget, we did our homework scouring through reviews posted here before making our reservations.

Overall, we were pleasantly impressed with our experience, like with other previous reviewers.

Hospitality of our host: <- EXCELLENT!
As we only had a day for Christchurch, Sue gave great advice to maximise our day. Apart from the usual activity brochures, she also gave us special discount slips for some of them to keep(Akaroa dophin tour).

Steve actually drove me to a neighbourhood computer shop (5 mins drive away) when he couldn't help me resolve my portable harddisk problem, in the middle of his exciting rugby game! :-D *Thumbs up!*

Lastly, I left my beanie behind when we left hurriedly (we overslept and almost miss our train ride) and they took the trouble to arrange it to return to us. *Double thumbs up!!*

Quality of our room and motel:
Very decent - clean, neat, tidy, spacious. For 2 persons' stay, this one is ideal and affordable. It is spacious, unlike others we tried subsequently. The shower cubicle looked brand new and squeaky clean!

I only have 1 gripe though. Tap in washroom comes with EITHER hot or cold water. Washing of hands are either scalding hot or freezing cold. But it seems like a common arrangement with many similiar-ranged accomodation as we travelled along.

Location of the motel:
To get to the city by foot, we have to walk across a public golf course and the botanical garden. Orientation is easy (just head Eastwards) and it's approximately 15-30 minutes walk (depends on how often you stop to smell the roses).

In short, I won't suggest if you do not have a car to get around Christchurch, given elements of rain/cold wind, or if you want to do abit more city shopping. Also, it gets dark and isolated by sundown in the garden to head back to motel.

We recently stayed at the Ashleigh Court Motel in Christchurch with a large group of friends. We have found this motel to be absolutely spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The owners, Sue and Steve are friendly and accomodating and always at hand to give advice whether it be about things to do around town or putting on snow chains on the cars. Ashleigh Court Motel is excellent budget accomodation.

It is not often that you stay in a motel where the owners treat you as a friend rather than just a paying customer. Sue and Steve are a great couple and simply cannot do enough for you. Cannot fault it , the rooms are great and the service excellent.

We stayed there for 4 nights and the service is excellent. The host, Sue and Steve went the extra miles to ensure our stay is enjoyable and memorable. The room is clean and the place is well managed.

It is quiet, peaceful and easily accessible to just about anywhere you wish.

I love how easy it is to get there and the many routes you can take. For any assistance, you can always count on the host.

Definitely my place the next time I am in town.

Ashleigh Court Motel exemplifies your traditional Kiwi motel. It’s basic and comfortable, and the owners are nothing but welcoming and attentive. We had Unit 8 and my husband and I shared the 2 bedroom unit with another family member. Bedrooms, bathroom and lounge were spacious and clean. Kitchen was ideal for making simple meals and coffee and tea, which is always nice when away from home. Only downside was that our unit didn’t have an oven, so if you want an oven ask for a unit with one. Large floor plan is ideal for family. Trampoline and swings are onsite, which are a huge hit with the children. Grounds are nice. Location is great! We walked around Mona Vale and the park each morning for our morning walk. This is a quiet gem of a hotel in a very nice area of Christchurch. We will definitely stay at Ashleigh Court when we go back to Christchurch. Kudos to the owners for their hospitality and high standards!

My wife and I have stayed at the Ashleigh Court Motel on a number of occasions.
The Hosts Sue and Steve always make us feel welcome; it’s like staying with old friends.
These would have to be the quietest motels we have ever stayed at. If you want a good night’s sleep then this is definitely the motel for you, huge beds and comfortable pillows. (When we travel in Australia I normally take my pillow from home, I am a bit fussy in that department).
Wireless internet is available which is great for checking emails etc.
Units are well equipped with ample supplies of Tea & Coffee and even a choice of milk.
Great shower with excellent water pressure. (I’m fussy about that too)
